DBWI: Nationalists win Spanish Civil War

Exactly what reads. What if the fascist/Nationalist forces had succeeded in their coup against the Second Spanish Republic? How might it had affected World War II?

Well, a military- led Spain definitely wouldn't have been invaded by Nazi Germany in 1940. I could actually see them joining the Axis, but only if the coup doesn't get dragged into a civil war.

Unlikely due to the unity and strength of the various left-wing groups. Maybe if you could find some way to sow discord between them. I mean it's not like there weren't differences between them, but by and large they had put aside their differences, especially after the coup attempt.

You also would've needed to get the Right wing unified; the Carlists refused to broker with people they felt were not seeking to put their claimant on the throne. Also they'd need some support from the conservative democratic parties too.

Oh, yeah, right.
Like France and Britain are going to let the democratic government of a friendly nation be lost to a military coup? One backed by Hitler's increasingly oppressive and obnoxious régime?
Like THAT'S going to happen.
