On the 23rd of February 1981 Lieutenant-Colonel Antonio Tejero stormed into the Spanish congress of deputies declaring a coup that lasted almost a fortnight. This led to the ensuing two weeks of political violence, chaos and general madness between political militants, ETA and the Spanish army.

Your challenge, should you accept it, is to shorten the lenght of the coup/lessen the damage with a POD after 22nd of February 1981.

If the military had tarried in taking control of the airwaves, then King Juan Carlos would have been able to denounce the coup in the wee hours of the following morning, and it would have collapsed instantly.

Yes, as King he wields great moral authority, and he would have had the power of his office behind him, not to mention a denunciation of the coup by the King dressed in full military uniform would have made many military commanders have second thoughts about going along with the coup. He would have also provided a very important non-political source of opposition to the coup, and in support of the Cortes, whose squabblings were I believe cited as a justification for the coup.
