Cuba WI: Eduardo Chibas survived?

In 1951, before the 1952 coup d'etat by Batista, the Partido Ortodoxo (Orthodox Party, their platform was mostly anti-corruption, and anti-communism), lead by Eduardo Chibas was expected to win the elections. However, IOTL, Chibas killed himself before the elections. What if Chibas hadn't killed himself? Would Batista go with the coup anyway? Would Cuba stay democratic, and capitalist today? If Cuba stays democratic, how would that affect the Cold War?
