Computer WI: The Second Intifada's most serendipitous casualty:

The original Intel Core and Core2 microarchitectures were introduced in 2006, developed at Intel's Israel R&D center over the course of 2003-2006. It was the architecture with which Intel took back the X86 performance crown from AMD, whose Athalon64 architecture and variants/successors forced Intel to make tremendous use of payola to keep AMD out of the market with its Athalon64/Athalon II/ Phenom/ Phenom II series of chips.

What if a car bomb or some other Palestinian destroyed the Intel Facility sometime between 2003 and 2005, destroying all work on the architecture and setting Intel back at least three years?

Aside from the political fallout in Israel, how does this change the technology landscape?

Inquiring minds want to know!
