Challenge: Have Lincoln kill Booth.

I just thought of an alternate scenario where Lincoln kills Booth:

As Booth is about to pull the trigger, the gun jams and won't fire. Lincoln hears the click and turns around in time to see Booth pull out a knife and attempt to stab him. Lincoln grabs Booth's wrist and the two struggle in the balcony before Lincoln tosses Booth off of him. Booth stumbles back and trips over the railing, falling to his death.

Actually, yeah, that would probably be more plausible, really.
Simple, if anything.
Hell, even a backfire/misfire could work.

Lincoln hears Booth coming from behind him. He turns and grabs him. In the struggle for the gun Booth is shot dead by Lincoln.

Lincoln would have to be expecting it for that to happen. Still, I like this thread. It would make him seem like a hero on top of his already great presidency.
