Baltic Union

For some time i had the idea/intent to write something where the Baltic States survive the second war world,by building a defensive line, establish an economic and military union, removing the Memel/Klaipeda discussion between Lithuania and Germany, decreased the Polish-Lithuania tension by letting Lithuania hold Vilnius and give it a border with USSR,to bring it more close with the other two,as a supporter of the union, i was thing of UK for the initial phase and to a lesser extent Sweden,Finland,Czechoslovakia,Germany through all sort of economic deals.

So can they survives if they acquire a decent military, build a decent line of fortifications and only having to fight the Soviets.

Too many enemies:
Germany:

Klaipėda/Memel the French mandate

Germany : After understanding that the reunion was an impossibility for the time be and after weigh her options, comes to the conclusion that a French administration could only be temporarily and it will be easier to regain control of the city and region if is not part of any state.

Lithuania : Faced with the lack of international support for her claim, for Klaipėda and in the same time having to deal with Polish and Soviet pressure,Lithuania decides to back down, form her plans to take control of the region an insisted decides to also support the idea of a free city, hoping that at a later date, she will have the support and opportunity to take it,for the time been Lithuania decide to settle for port use, which was granted by the Klaipėda Convention (8 of May 1924 Paris).

Klaipėda/Memel return to Germany

Just like Saar,Klaipėda/Memel found her self under French protection/control,but unlike the Saar,Klaipėda/Memel was more of a drag on France finance, since the Klaipėda convention of 1924 as granted Lithuania free use of the port.

The final fate of the region will be decided,by the 13 of January 1935 (the same date as of the Saar referendum),when the region votes to return to Germany, the regions returns to Germany on 1 of march 1935,when the representatives of Germany France and Lithuania sing the second Klaipėda convention, which allows the reunion with of the Region with Germany and in turn Germany, agrees to take take on the responsibility's of the first convention, that granted Lithuania free use of the port.

Poland:

Vilnius/Wilno

Polish-Lithuania war,German volunteers and the second soviet offensive, fearing the that Poland will eventuality annex Lithuanian and thus future engendering East Prussia,Germany decides to intervene and supports Lithuanian,by providing them weapons and volunteers, thus with the help of the Germans on one side and the help provided by the Soviet offensive on the other,Lithuania manages to retain control of the Vilnius region and a border with USSR.

The Baltic entente/union

On 2-3 July 1921,the representatives of Estonia and Latvia decided to form a military alliance, against the threat of the Soviet Union. The first step of Lithuania joining the alliance was take on 12-13 July the representatives of Estonia and Latvia together with the representatives of Lithuania, sign the deal of not-enabling,by with they agree not to help any aggressor that might threaten the territorial integrity of any of them.A future step is taken when the representatives of the three agree,to hold each year common treating excises, another step and probably the most important is when the three agree to help each other, acquire weapons and also to help each other build and develop weapons. On 22 march 1922 the representatives of the three states meet in Riga and agree to form free trade and movement commission, the Baltic free transit, free movement agreement is sign in may of 1923,later that year on 25 July 1923 the three sing the political collaboration agreement,by which the three agree to harmonize each other legislation,to hold common inter-ministerial meetings, form the Baltic council.

Defensive plans:

Faced with there weakens in the face of bigger enemy's especially the soviet union, the three decide to establish military service for both men and women,in an attempt to boost there electives, with out the options of ceding territory in a war, with a large cost line to defend and inspired by France and Czechoslovakia, decide to build the Baltic wall on there border with USSR.

How about taking the POD farther back and allow the Hanseatic League to retain control of the Baltic?
This parallels a similar thread about a United Scandanavia.

What if? Norway, Sweden and Denmark set aside their dynastic squabbles to agree on one king. Schleswig and Holstein remain Danish. Norse fishermen routinely return from Iceland, Greenland and the Grand Banks with their holds full of salt cod
Norse-speaking traders dominate trade along the Dneiper and Volga Rivers toward the Eastern Mediterranean.
Finns stay in Finland and the Russians stay farther inland.
Prussia is too busy trading with her Northern neighbours to worry about forming a Zollverein with the rest of the German-speaking principalities.
Hanseatic League ship-owners sign significant "encomiendas" to supply the Spanish colonies in the Americas. These encomiendas over-shadow Catholic traders from the south of Holland.
Lutheran Friesland (Northern Netherlands coast) remains part of the Hanseatic League, while Catholic parts of Southern Holland remain in the Spanish sphere of influence.
Polish ports remain in the Hanseatic League.

Well while that is an interesting pod,the problem with him are it is before 1900 pod,and it changes a lot of things,my idea is not to change the history of Europe that much, just have the Baltic state survive as independent state and not have them succumb to soviet or Nazi domination, and perhaps add a forth Baltic state at the end of the war East Prussia.
But expanding it to the North is a possibility and while there is little chance of bringing Sweden, since it was to happy with her neutrality,Finland is a real possibility, but while the possibility of Sweden joining a military alliance is low, there is the possibility of Sweden becoming one of the industrial backers,of such an alliance.
Also bringing Finland in will also give them the war to win,the winter war,
