The queen was deeply wounded and fainted, but she survived

his older brother - and father (IIRC) are still alive, so crowning him king would be in direct opposition to the Carlists, so likely just regent

If having a Carlist Regent avoids the Carlist wars, all the better. If it means an ultraconservative Spain, worse than IOTL.
