Abdul Hadi pointed this one out yesterday. According to the Infallible Wikipedia,

Known to some as the Ulu Hakan ("Great Khan"), he is better known in the West as "The Red Sultan", "Abdul the Damned" or "The Great Assassin" for the massacres of Ottoman Armenians which occurred throughout his tenure.

[...]

He was also a good wrestler and a 'patron saint' of the wrestlers. He organised wrestling tournaments in the empire and selected wrestlers were invited to the palace. Abdülhamid personally tried the sportsmen and good ones remained in the palace.
How can we make it so that the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire actually does become personally involved in professional wrestling (which, in Turkey, involves slathering oneself with oil and gripping one another by the groin - see (NSFW) here)? Will he be deposed in favor of another member of the family? Or will his entrance into Turkish oil wrestling encourage other world leaders to pursue similarly activities?

Slippery, greasy people going for each others' groin? Oh, it seems he was emulated. Note the proliferation of democratic politicos after his time.
