"The Federated Commonwealths"I’m sure we’ve all heard of alternate names for America (Columbia, Vinland, Fredonia, etc.), but I’ve long been fascinated by the title being different. What are some alternatives to “the United States” when it comes to America’s title?
I saw several of them, but they seemed to focus on the “America” part rather than the “United States” title. My apologies if this was i’ll advised, and thank you for the ones I hadn’t heard of!There already are several threads about this topic:
WI: Alternate Name for the United States
Alas, we really took the spotlight of all the other American nations by calling ourselves "America" and "Americans". Of course, it was never really meant to be that way (we were only a United States first, and America happened to be its location), but semantics took the upper hand eventually...www.alternatehistory.comAlternate Names for the United States?
So I am looking for alternate names for the United States, however, I do not want the conventional names such as Columbia or Fredonia but instead I want names based off of terrain, mythical features, ect.www.alternatehistory.comAlternate names for USA?
Was there any alternate names suggested at or around the time of the Declaration of Independence? IMO its probably the most annoying nation name in the world, as it uses the name for the continent, only one close to that is Australia which have the significant saving grace that depending on your...www.alternatehistory.comAlternate Names for USA

If the term "America" wasn't use what else would it be? For the sake of hearing something new it can't be Freedonia or Columbia (nor any versions of that word). The term "United States" can be used if pleased. Just replace "America" as long as it fits my criterion.www.alternatehistory.comBetter Name for the U.S. and her states?
Something that bothers me is that most of us Americans have to resort to calling ourselves Americans, stealing the name from the whole two continents. So what would be a better name for the U.S.? I personally like "Federal Republic of Columbia" :p Also, while we're on the topic, better names...www.alternatehistory.comA thought on alternative names for the USA
Now when the US Civil War happened, the idea of referring to the area of the USA as "America" had become ingrained into the public consciousness. So when the seceding states formed their own government, it was the Confederate States of America. If they had won their war, a problem of demonyms...www.alternatehistory.com
I like the sound of the Consular Republic of America, or Consular Union of America? Thank you!I think the simple ones have a little charm to them, like Federal Republic of America, or just Republic of America.
If you want to go on and change a few more titles downhill, we could have the Consular Republic of America or just Consulate of America, or the other way around, a few more unusual Presidency of America
That would be good for an American thalassocracy. The Most Serene Republic of America.
