AHC/WI: Timurids survive in Central Asia

The Timurid Empire was one of the last Nomadic Empires in history before the Age of Gunpowder. Stretching from Central Asia to India and Persia, under its founder Tamerlane, the Timurid Empire was a powerhouse. Tamerlane would die to the common cold as he planned to invade Ming China, and bits of his empire broke away. However, the Timurid Renaissance saw the flourishing art and science in the Timurid Empire.

But the Timurids would fall into familial bickering, and the Safavids took over Iran, and the final deathblow came from the Uzbeks from the North, founding the Khanate of Bukhara. Yet, this wasn't the end for the Timurids, as one member, Babur, would found the Mughal Dynasty in India, which would last until the 19th Century.

While it would be easy to discuss "What if the Mughal Dynasty never fell", here's another question I propose: What if the Timurids survived in Central Asia as well? What if the Uzbeks failed, and the Khanates of Khiva and Bukhara never founded?

Or at least, for a challenge, how can we get that point, where the Timurids hold out in Central Asia (IE: Transoxiana, Khorasan).

Sidenote: The Mughals could also still be founded by Babur if possible.

If the Timurids had survived without Iran they would probably be too weak to prevent colonization from the Russian Empire, had they kept Iran they would've become just another Persian dynasty.
It's unlikely Babur would invade India in this timeline as he did that once he understood that Central Asia was lost.

How about Afghanistan? If the Timurids hold on to Afghanistan, then they could potentially also hold onto parts of Pakistan, Tajikistan, and maybe even Uzbekistan. Also, with the great game between Russia and Britain in the 19th century, we could see the future potential Timurid regime being supported by the British in order to protect Indian and check Russian advances into Central Asia.

Without the Mughals we don't know if the British hold India in at the same time as OTL as the EIC used the weakness of the Mughals to conquer Bengal and start the conquest of India, I think that the British would still end up conquering India but later than OTL therefore the Great Game would start a little bit after the British have conquered India which means that the Timurids are seen as another Indian nation to conquer (as they hold parts of Pakistan) and not as a shield against Russian expansionism therefore if they did hold all of that land they would be attacked on one side by the British and on the other by the Russians.
Although knowing Afghanistan, the Timurids would probably be kicked there and used as a buffer between the Raj and Russia
