AHC/WI: Christian Socialist Greater Austria

I remember reading before that one of the best places for Christian Socialism to grow into a larger movement (though probably a decade or two after the initial pod in all likelihood) is the former Habsburg empire. Seeing that at least some republicanism will be necessary for the Socialist half of Christian Socialism to get off the ground, how can we get a United States of Greater Austria that remains religious but has a socialist economy and if this can remain a European power (with a possibility of them being able to throw some weight in Africa and the Mid-east) what effect will this have on the 20th century assuming the US and Russia remain on similar paths?

While this might be possible with a post-1900 pod I thought an extra century back would be helpful.

Maybe 1848 plays different? A more successful spring of nation would allow more space for non-Marxist socialist movement.

What would be the latest possible pod for a Christian-socialist USGA and does anyone know how this would affect the 20th century in Europe?

Asking how it would affect the Cold War is a bit of a silly question when it would affect WWI much more immediately; there would not be a Cold War as we know it with a strong, united Central Europe, but what form any Cold War takes depends on how badly Russia and, to a lesser extent, Britain are hurt in WWI, and how much the US ends up gaining. But given that the POD could result in anything from a Kaiserreich to a divided Germany, I think the Cold War is too far away to say anything valuable about.

My mistake, I meant 20th century, but I was hoping to go with the assumption that both the US and Russia would take paths similar to otl and see how that plays out with a large power in central-eastern Europe that doesn't neatly mesh with the traditional left-right paradigm.
