Your challenge is to make Madagascar considerably more successful, powerful and prominent than IOTL. You can use whatever POD you'd like.

-Taprobane turns out to largely be a description of Madagascar via Annius Plocamus's description
-Less African migration and a fierce determination to maintain the seagoing aspect of the Polynesian culture creates a seafaring trade network
-Colonization of various Indian Ocean and Atlantic Islands with trade eventually reaching the Americas, Europe, and eastern Asia
-By 800 AD the locals have taken the Dhow, Corbata, and Catamaran designs and implemented some of the best of all worlds. Mainland colonization of Africa by this culture sees OTL South Africa, Mozambique, and Tanzania as main foci while trade and "Eastern Learning" enrich the libraries of the island. A dozen main kingdoms narrow to half a dozen within a century then only two, later united by marriage under one dynasty
-By 1100 AD it will be this culture that introduces Europe to the Spice Trade and begins an expansion in naval curiosity with much of Polynesia swearing at least titular fealty to the Kindgom of the Magasy
-Prester John legends report having found their home as Genoese and later Iberian along with other Italian explorers round the Cape of Good Hope starting in 1292
-By 1400 this Kindgom controls colonies throughout the world and has begun to kick off an earlier Industrial Revolution having colonized much of the southern half of Africa, much of coastal South America on the Atlantic side, almost the whole Caribbean, Newfoundland, Bermuda, and Australia.
