AHC: Stronger Home Nations teams at international football

With the World Cup round the corner and with only England being the British team there, it has made me think what if at least two or all the home nations had been present at either World cup or European championship and were all much stronger to boot with their own respected years of success than IOTL instead of hearing 1966 as the only victory that will probably ever be.

It is sad that each British nation has had truly world class players to never play at a tournament such as Denis Law or George Best with some bad misfortune running their chances, who knows what they'd have done if playing at a World Cup? So what would be the POD for a stronger England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales to be truly the best international teams out there?

The teams going out for the 1930 World Cup in Uruguay and with one of them winning?

Scotland actually going to the 1950 World Cup in Brazil rather than throwing a hissy fit of not toping the qualifying group?

Wales winning that Quarter-final game with Brazil in 1958 and maybe going all the way?

England losing the 1966 World Cup and making amends for it later on which benefit the other teams?

What would you think needs to be done for this happen?

The best chances for England to win a tournament were at the 1990 World Cup and Euro 96.

In both cases, while they may not have been the best team in the tournament, they were capable of going all the way.

Perhaps some training at taking penalties and not bottling it mentally during almost every single shoot out may have helped?

Well if you want the home nations to be the strongest and have the best chance of winning the solution is a united kingdom team with all the best from the isles

If the Irish FA's hadn't split that would produce a stronger, more capable Irish team and better league as well.
