Could it be possible that only one European country takes part in the colonization of the New World (Americas), Africa, Asia, and Oceania? This is going to be tough as said country will need to make sure no one else gets a permanent foothold outside Europe. Now it can be possible for other countries to attempt colonization but they must be beaten back AKA they lose their possessions to said sole colonial power eventually.

Portugal, Spain (or one that includes Portugal), England (or Britain), and France are the most likely ones to pull this off considering their OTL successes and reach. How can said sole colonial power pull off somewhat-world domination and how will that world be like? PODs can take place before 1492 but can't be earlier than 1200.

Only way would be no fall or Roman Empire so it would control Western Europe and Britain. Only difficult thing is that it should be able to colonise Americas, Africas and Oceania. That is probably totally ASB.

Otherwise this is really difficult if not ASB.

That’s why I was flexible with the POD date range. Also it’s not impossible considering how long it took other nations to take part in colonization after Portugal and Spain started it.

If Spain manages to win the 80-year war and manages to succesfully invade England with the Armada and manages to keep in union with Portugal, you have already managed to knock out Purtugal, England and the Netherlands. Realy the only other power to worry about is France.

That said, it is pretty likely that others will manage to fill in the gap left by England and the Netherlands (although I doubt any other European country besides France could be as succesful as England and the Netherlands were in this scenario.

That or Mary and Philip have a son that produces a loyal England to Spain.

Portuguese explorers reach all of those areas, but one of their ships soon brings back a plague that sweeps across Europe killing almost everybody in its path: The relatively few survivors are too busy surviving and -- if they're lucky -- rebuilding to go out overseas, and probably too scared by the risk of further such plagues to consider doing that anyway.

If England won the hundred years war maybe a France led by a english monarch that holds both countries could have a strong enough navy to monopolize the Atlantic

Country so enriched would be opposed by coalition of European powers. Look at Habsburg, they got too big, then everybody fighting them.

If any country control world trade, everybody would make attempt to break their monopoly.

And country so enriched could(possibly) crush them all, brutally
It depends wheter it's ran like Spain or Britain

Habsburgs got too big in Europe. If said nation would make the right alliances they can counter any rivals.
