During the American Revolutionary War, the Continental Congress asked Nova Scotia to join the 13 colonies and declare independence, but Nova Scotia refused. There were also a lot of colonists in Nova Scotia who wanted to join the 13 colonies.

Challenge: With a POD before 1867, Nova Scotia becomes part of the United States.

Why not think that If English Puritans came to Maritime Provinces like New England colonies & wars of three kingdoms(1639-1653) never happened then king Charles I would reign & huge English Puritans, Scottish Presbyterians & Irish Catholics migrated to American colonies. Due to the huge migration Puritans would have settled to the Maritime Provinces, naming that area as New England.

I am working on a timeline that has both Quebec and Acadia becoming states. With the appropriate leadership in the Quebec campaign and the capture of Quebec City. All those on the fence both in Canada and the colonies become more patriot in their thinking and actions. This in turn has France enter the war at an earlier date to avenge their defeat in the Seven Years War. Couple this with the return from exile of Deschamps de Boishebert from France to lead some of the thousands of displaced Acadians (4000 alone from Massachusetts, Virgina and Maryland alone). De Boishebert fought with the Acadians in the French and Indian War and together with colonial forces and those Acadians looking to return push the British from Halifax with a big assist from the French fleet.

Nova Scotia's entrance into the USA will screw up the states south of the Mason-Dixon Line, because then there will be more states that do not have slavery inside them.

There is no way the British agree to give up NS post war unless a good portion of Canada has also been lost. The base at Halifax was absolutely huge to their global military situation.

The best route would be recognition of Nova Scotia Northwest Angle, and massachusetts consede eastern Maine, traditionaly Sunbury county. Get around the full garrison and royal navy station, and you might get it. But short of handwavium, that is going to be a big investment.
