So, is it possible for the Romans and the Macedonians to coexist, without one annexing the other?

Depends. Rome and Egypt coexisted for a long time, and Rome more or less allowed client and allied kingdoms to go on without their interference. Mithridates VI screwed up almost everything for the Macedonian Kingdoms after his great successes were followed up by a swift defeat at the hands of Gaius Julius Caesar against his successor, and Mart Antony finally ruined the last of the Macedonians in Egypt. Ironically there was a Ptolemy ruling in Mauritania who was pretty close to Rome, but eventually this to was dismantled. That, and if you have one of these states provide a good counterbalance to Roman expansion and you can probably get away with coexistence.

The Crimean Greeks survived and maintained their independence, while under Roman hegemony, right until its fall to the Goths. You could have one of the minor Successor kingdoms survive by staying on the good graces of Rome, like the Ptolemies in Cyprus or Cyrene.
