This would be absolutely spectacular. But what if the war didn't end because of it? The Germans might not just collapse.

Takes the cool factor away from Patton's dream of dying in spectacular fashion, that's for sure.

He needs to take Strasbourg. I was at the National Memorial Arboretum this week, and there is an SAS memorial there, explaining that over 200 SAS were parachuted behind German lines to help aid Patton take Strasbourg, but he stopped before then. From what I gather, if he had been able to take Strasbourg, it would have opened up the German defence lines?

I dunno about Hitler, but I read "A Damned Fine War" on Kindle, one of those 'WW2.5' scenarios where the Soviets go nuts and attack the Allies after WW2 proper, and in that one, Patton personally shot Stalin...
