Most threads that focus on improving the longevity of the Soviet Union, do so from an economic perspective. How can the various ethnicities within be made happy enough to be content to stay in, with the least possible state brutality? Economics should stay close to OTL.

What do you mean by this ? With the exception of the Baltic states, Georgia, Armenia, and Moldavia. The rest of the republics voted to remain in the Soviet Union .dissolution of the Ussr was tied to the 1991 coup not ethnic conflicts.
Well, in the end, everyone broke apart. I'm looking for stability, and a greater sense of togetherness shared between the republics.
