This is my first Alt history so pls dont insult.
There are 2 main points of divergence in this timeline.
The first, is that the soviets only push to the polish border before succumbing to attrition and eventually just defending from the polish border. this makes the allies have a more free peace deal and form a south german confederation with austria , hungary and bavaria.
The second is the biggest one.
The year is 1987. In our timeline , A huge stock market collapse happened which didnt effect much after a couple months. In the 1987 collapse timeline This collapse is much
worse and lasts for years. This scenario is set in 1990, 3 years after the collapse. the following tells you what happens in the 2 continents it effects.
NORTH AMERICA
Not much has happened in terms of mexico and canada , mexico has took southern texas and named it "Tejas". The main country in this continent is the USA. The usa has Almost collapsed , being partially split.
Neu England
in 1989 , many neo nazi groups and coalitions formed what is known as "Neu england". This was a place where "Aryans" could have a safe haven from the hatred and disgust of the "contaminated" Americans. this was what it was on the surface but Neu England was actually run by a government of imbeciles that dont know any politics at all , and is a very unstable country that is bound to collapse in the next few years or so.
Texanisch-Deutsches Reich
in 1988, Texas voted for independence, and America, fearing for the worst decided to give Texas independence. the Texan-Germans, though a small group , Started a coup and overthrew the old democratic government and turned it into an Absolute Monarchy.
USAR (Union of Socialist American Republics)
the USAR (Union of Socialist American Republics) was formed by the Communist Party of the USA, and had to fight for independence, just like their forefathers. they managed to gain independence with the help of the USSR and in return the USSR now owns Alaska. The USAR owns All of Western USA.
Second American Confederation
Not much is known as it is a very enclosed Country , not allowing anyone in or out.

Independence Movements
in 1988, many nations declared independence, such as Brittany and Catalonia, Scotland tried, but failed and Scottish nationalists started rising up.
Why did some countries collapse?
in 1987 many countries, like Germany and Spain relied on countries like America, and when the stock market crashed they fell into anarchy. This caused a sort of "Domino Effect" with other countries having extreme Humanitarian Crises and collapsing . countries like France and Germany have (kinda) managed to stop these influxes of population booms and are doing alright.
Situation with the USSR
Many countries, fearing that the USSR would take advantage of this dire situation either united or joined the USSR peacefully like poland and the baltics.
the USSR , seeing that most useful countries for trade and its most oldest enemy were falling apart, had a change of heart (for some reason) and started sending aid to countries. They managed to help italy,
Czechoslovakia and the Balkans. although refusing to send aid to the USA.
