Oddly enough, there was recently a novel released that sort of dealt with this topic ... although as a 'refight' type of deal. It's called Ghost Force by Patrick Robinson and is set in 2011. FWIW I rather disagreed with some of the ideas in the book
You'd need to completely remove the ideological basis of the Khmer Rouge to get there. The whole driving force behind the horrors in Cambodia was Pol Pot's "Year Zero" concept. To get rid of that needs re-writing the Khmer Rouge to an extent where they aren't the Khmer Rouge any more
During the early days of WW2 the IJN asked the Japanese army to plan an invasion of Australia. The Army's response was to basically say 'keep taking the tablets, you'll get better soon.'
There was never any intent to invade Australia and the only way it could happen is with major ASB...
The old classic The Moscow Option by David Downing -- about an alternate WW2 -- is written in a popular history style. Not quite a textbook, but close.
I have the Official History of 4th Indian - I had a quick glance ... apparently the idea was considered but then rejected ... unfortunately the OH gives no reasons for the rejection, just the statement :( It would've meant that my uncles would've served at Caen rather than Cassino! (both were...
The story is a fair length. The extracts here come well under the 10% for intellectual discussion rule. I have a copy. It's always been a personal favourite
I dont necessarily entirely agree here. Certainly 'traditional' counterfactual history would remain in some form or other as historians hypothesise how significant events could resolve differently (as in the USSR a lot of thought/philosophy went into a successful Paris Commune).

The fine, as another poster stated is $A50 ... and has been ever since I arrived in the country in 1969!
Certainly Federal and State elections are compulsory, but in South Australia, voting in local elections is definitely optional. I don't know the situation in other states, but in SA local...
I don't see the goal as you stated as particularly viable ... however ... if you assume that the Soviets take heavier casualties in the OTL 19 November operation and also that the secondary operations in late November and early December are less successful and incur heavier casulaties than OTL...
IIRC there were 2 Australian wounded in that clash ... one in the neck, but not a lot was mentioned of the casualties, so I suspect that the wounds weren't especially severe
The Oggy Oggy Pastie Shop is a SW England chain of pastie takeaway shops ... could they become a national, let alone international, conglomerate? Doubt it :)
