  1. What would have happened to the High Seas Fleet if it had not been scuttled in 1919?

My opinion is that Bayern and Baden would have gone to France, and maybe Derfflinger and Hindenburg would go to Italy. The rest would be parceled out and scrapped or expended as experimental/target ships. e: France getting 15"/380mm gunned battleships might encourage Italy to finish the...
  2. What would have happened to the High Seas Fleet if it had not been scuttled in 1919?

The admiral in charge only ordered the scuttle because he thought Versailles meant that his ships would be parceled out to the Entente. Was he right? Who do you think would get what ship, if so? Would the Entente have allowed the Germans to retain some modern capital ships if they had been...
  3. Vatutin's USSR

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikolai_Fyodorovich_Vatutin Vatutin: the perfect combination of loyal party member and aggressive, talented commander. Here's a TL in very broad strokes: 1944/45 - Vatutin survives an attack by Ukrainian nationalists, and retains command of the 1st Ukrainian...
  4. Rumsfeldia: Fear and Loathing in the Decade of Tears

This timeline had its four-year anniversary a few days ago. Congrats!

This is why I still check this site every few days. Magnificent work as always, Drew.
  7. Pirate Madagascar

Always nice to come back to this every few months and catch up. Glad you're still going.
  8. The promise of a socialist dawn in Britain

Truly excellent stuff. It's good to see the execrable part of the Democrats - the McAdoos and Garners - out of power, and a progressive force moving to replace them. Baldwin's views on homosexuality are reassuring as well. Perhaps he would be willing to carry forward Masterman's suggestion.
  9. Keeping the British Liberal Party flag flying high

Excellent. I hope that there are French and American volunteers as well. I wonder if Mussolini intends to provide support to Hitler? Incidentally, how are the Nazi troops being supplied? Are the Soviets involved? As always, wonderful stuff.
  10. Fear, Loathing and Gumbo on the Campaign Trail '72

Just have to chime in - truly, truly excellent stuff. You really should get it published when you're done. Can't wait for the 80s.
  11. Striving for a world transformed by justice and peace - a TL from 1827

Sad to hear about Nightingale. Interesting to learn about 19th-century alternative sexuality here.
  12. Fear, Loathing and Gumbo on the Campaign Trail '72

This is wonderful. Your narrative writing really is just getting better and better. Wallace is an amazing character.
  13. Keeping the British Liberal Party flag flying high

If I was at that press conference I'd certainly ask how legitimate the government perceives itself to be. Also, we need more details about the conspiracy, whether this coup had been planned long in advance, etc.
  14. Keeping the British Liberal Party flag flying high

Wonderful. This opens up a lot of interesting possibilities.
