He would have pursued government intervention sooner than Hoover so the depression is slightly better by 1932 in comparison to real life but not by much

In the long-term I think he’d be seen in a similar way to Carter but obviously because of the great depression be viewed more negatively than Carter

It’s possible, human beings love an excuse to to discriminate or blame a minority group when economic conditions are bad

Smith probably doesn't win re-election in 1932 and gives the GOP the White House.

Smith deserved better. A shame bigotry often strikes opportunity.
 
1928 was a poisoned chalice election.

Whoever was elected in 1928 was going to oversee the Great Depression take up his entire presidency, ensuring that the 1929-1933 term would be his sole term.
