WI: Italy Joined The Entente Instead Of The Triple Alliance/Joined The Entente Early

italy's joining of the triple alliance with AH and Germany is a bit of an oddity when one considers their relationship with Austria was always... less than pleasant due to Italian adriatic claims. Now, even against France they had some desires (i believe tunis and some minor claims against the county of Nice), but those areas were relatively minor compared to nearly all of Austria-Hungary's coast. So what if during the Russo-French negotiations, Italy also joined on? or made a separate defensive pact with france What does this mean for France, Austria, and Germany? Does an Austro-Italian Naval Arms Race go down like the Anglo-German?

assuming that somehow the same crisis starts of ww1, this is the situation on the ground, with Germany declaring the war, Italy finds itself involved on day one. No, i don't know why the UK is colored but Belgium isn't.

Italy joining the then Dual Alliance was much due to the french takeover of Tunisia and the invasion scare that grappled the nation when that happened; united to the trade war between the two nation and having a rabid francophone and germanophile like Francesco Crispi as presidente del consiglio.

Regarding an Austro-Italian naval arm race, not happening, the navy for the austro-hungarian was the red stepchild of the service there were time when to obtain the necessary fund she basically was forced to cheat the budget department. Italy on the other side consider the Navy a prestitious part of the armed forces and had a long tradition of naval endevour

So other than France staying out of Tunis (maybe they offer a trade? Tunis for somewhere in east Africa to help secure Indochina?) What do we need to do to get warmer french-italian relations?

Without Tunisia? Just a little time to heal the last effect of the Roman Question
