The Central powers in 1916 with Brest-Litovsk gains in the east and a status quo peace in the west (though France is likely drowning in debt). After the war Germany enters a period of liberalization into a constitutional monarchy with leftists being voted into the Reichstag. Conservatives are furious with the left's victories and a group of right wing fanatics led by Ludendorff attempt to overthrow the government but fail even more spectacularly due to the Kaiser's postwar support. What happens to Germany after suffering an attempted coup by many of the men that fought for Germany in the last war?

There a lot that has to happen to get to this, so I'm not sure it really makes sense. Germany has won dramatic victories and is apparently entering into a period of prosperity and liberalization. What exactly has happened to so deeply infuriate conservatives/monarchists that they're willing to go to war with their own Kaiser?

Relatively little? A handful of crazed nutjobs (and it would be crazed nutjobs, because as Mikey mentions, the RWF's are going to be limited to people who are both radical enough to hate this time of prosperity and liberalization, and willing to betray their own country to fight against it) are not going to be anything more then a minor footnote in German History, maybe a grand total of 1 two hour class in German high school history. The army is sent in, and the RWF's are massacred. Certainly there is ABSOLUTELY no way way the Austrian manic can use this as a springboard to power. Nothing of value is lost.

Fair enough. I just thought that such a stunt would be plausible enough to ask about considering recent history.
