Chapter 1: I Will Not Betray My Dream
Batang, Kingdom of Mataram, May 1, 1613
Raden Mas Wuryah, second son to the Late King of Mataram, Susuhunan Anyakrawati, and should have been the rightful Heir to the Throne, wondered if his elder half-brother, Raden Mas Rangsang was either joking or being cruel when he found himself enthroned for a single day after his Father's death, before being immediately removed and exiled to the town of Batang, scarcely a month ago.
His mother, Ratu Tulungayu, said that she married his Father under the understanding that her previously sovereign Duchy of Ponorogo would be subsumed into the larger Kingdom of Mataram, in exchange for the guarantee that her son would be the Crown Prince. But because his elder half-brother managed to convince the Nobilities that the younger Crown Prince was an idiot who did not deserve to rule as a King, he was given the shameful sham of a ceremony, before being unceremoniously exiled from what should have been his rightful throne on the pain of death for him and his mother.
Not that being only an eight-year-old helps in this regard.
At least, his half-brother have enough decency to provide him and his Mother with enough allowance to live in relative comfort, but still, what is a comfortable life when he was told that, as soon as he was noted to leave his personal estate, his life would be forfeit?
As much as a young boy could dream, Raden Mas Wuryang wanted Jus tice to be done, so he could finally ascend to His Rightful Throne. As much as he could say by himself, in front of the sacred Banyan Tree, he swore that one day, he will be a King of his own Kingdom.
And he'll endure everything, and use everything, to achieve his dream.
No matter what the cost is, he will become a King!
