September 11th, 1973 - Santiago de Chile
General Augusto Pinochet, Army General of the Chilean Army leads a Military Coup against socialist elected president Salvador Allende, at 9 am, that day, two fighters model Hawker Hunter dropped bombs in the Palace of La Moneda, destroying it, there is suspiccion that Allende commited suicide inside his office before the bombing. Since that day began the period in Chile known as the Dictadura Militar. Secretly this coup was armed and prepared by CIA operatives, so there is use of many NATO vehicles and even from the Allied Forces from WW2, such as M4A1 shermans, Hawker Hunters, M3 Troop carriers. During the 70's Chile becomes a Dictatorship.

"Not a single page moves without my knowledge, this was never a dictatorship, it was a softtatorship, but maybe its time to tighten the grip."
-General Augusto Pinochet

March 24th, 1976 - Buenos Aires, Argentina
Elected President Isabel Martínez de Perón is derrocated in a coup d'etat, begining the 6th argentinian dictatorship, many private enterprises are allied with the military and for the first time, all the three military powers (Army, Navy and Air Force) are unified in one reign of terror under dictator Jorge Rafael Videla, also under the support of the CIA. The argentinian army also has many outdated vehicles of the US and NATO armed forces, such as A4-C Skyhawks and french AML-90s. Under some junta oficers's guidance (without Videla's authorization due to his opposition with the conflict) the first conceptions of Operation Sovereignty, an armed operation on both the British controlled Falklands Islands (Islas Malvinas) and the south of Chile.

May 4th, 1979 - London, England
during the presentation of prime minister Margaret Thatcher she is assasinated along with several other victims by an act of terrorism, the causant was a Irish nacionalist that wished the unification of the Irish Island, so he planted a bomb under the prime minister's car, when the car's engine started the car blew up, This causes a crisis inside the british goverment and an anti-irish sentiment, pretty much like in events before the event is called the Bloody Fourth. This causes that the next year Britain goes in a "peacekeeping mission on Ireland, where several armed guerrillas and mafia groups of the island fought against british soldiers and even Irish patriots, due to the whole office of Thatcher was killed in the bloody fourth, James Callaghan of the Labour party becomes prime minister, which causes more unstability in the country.

March 29th, 1981 - Buenos Aires, Argentina
Videla resigns, the military Junta decides to put on office general Roberto Eduardo Viola, he gives green light to the invasion of the Falklands, due to the crisis in the British Isles the royal navy can't do anything, the quote from the BBC of prime minister Callaghan is "We'll deal with it later" which causes even more controversy in the city of London, many viewers and even the tv host see him really tired and definetly not in the healthiest state, he admits he's not sleeping well due to the work by the three crises, a war on Ireland, a war on terror on London and last and least, the falklands invasion. By the end of the year the military operation in the Falklands begins to execute, but in June a special commando is trained to fight the hostile climate of the southen atlantic.

April 2nd, 1982 - Southern Atlantic
The Invasion of the Falklands goes smoothly, the argentinian commandos manage to capture the island, Britain with the two crises in London cant do anything, the US doesnt want to intervene in a right wing country due to the Reagan doctrine focusing more on the "reds". Curiously, the proyect Star Wars gets a pass, cutting the army's fund, later that year in november everybody realizes the stupidity of the situation and the proyect is cancelled, but the argentinians already claimed the islands as theirs, being recognized by three of five UN high council members. France due to his rilvary with britain, the soviet union to stop western imperialism and China because it sees a prime oportunity to claim Hong Kong.

December 27th 1984 - Santiago de Chile
The Terminator stars in cinema, Ghostbusters too, and in argentina the plans for Operation Soverania get a green light, yet, with this intel, General Pinochet declares in public in La Moneda; "We will not be defeated, if the argentinians want a War we'll give a war to them, and if they Invade in January by Chrismas we'll be in Buenos Aires!". Not only on speeches, also buys several old planes like F4 phantoms (C, D and E variants), B52 strat bombers, and some M50 tanks, from vietnamese smugglers gets a lot of M16A2 rifles and M60 Machine guns, as well as salvaged Huey Helicopters. Both dictators begin building up their armys for war.

January 12th 1985 - Magellan Strait, Chilean-Argentinian Border
Operation Soverania Starts, two chilean F4-E piloted by José "Goliath" Gonzalez with Javier "Gringo" Gennis in the first plane and Patricio "Pato" Perez with Hernan "Alemán" Apelhanzs come across two A4C piloted by Eduardo "Chispa" Chavez and Samuel "Perro" Porcetta, both have a stand-off between the two, its still debated who shot first, but two planes were shot down simulnateously, Pato, Alemán and Perro crashed on the Andes. Goliath and Gringo in a blind panic drop their flares to dodge any missile, while trying to find Chispa, the later one did the same until the moment both of them found themselves at 3000-mts over sea altitude, both began dogfighting, the fight lead to the city of Punta arenas, where Chispa was shot down and later captured, the message was clear

The War has started

the next day, armed corps of the Argentinian army crossed into Valparaiso, Santiago, Valdivia, Punta Arenas and Cabo de Hornos, the Santiago offensive lead into a fight in the capital, they entered by the comuna of San Jose de Maipo, but quickly paratroopers dropped onto the entire city, in Maipu the statue of the libertadores Bernardo O'Higgins and Jose de San Martín, a symbol of Chilean and argentinian unity, blows up by a tank shot, the battle rages on for three months until an air bombing by aviation general Bachelet blows several cargo planes with aerotransported supplies to the runnin' low argentinian forces. this gives an edge in the favour of the chilean Army, which causes the victory and expulsion of the argeninian forces. Plaza Italia and the statue of general Baquedano are blown to kingdom come, and La Moneda is bombed for a second time in 10 years

65000 soldiers dead, 3200 dissapeared and over 80000 wounded, this is referred by historians as "Chilean Stalingrad" due to the significance the city had for the chilean and argentinian people. This battle filled the chilean people with a war support not seen since the days of the war in the pacific in 1879.

"Mark my words, comrade, one day things will change, we will take the fight to their land, to their people, to their blood...."
Victor Reznov, Call Of Duty: World at war
the general sentimient of the chilean people in 1985

a similar offensive was carried out in Valparaiso with paratroopers, but with help of several Navy ships most of the planes are shot down, and the soldiers that reach he ground surrender due to lack of armament. But the Valdivia, Punta Arenas and Cabo de Hornos' offensive are able to be captured and held by the invading armed forces, the west turns a blind eye on the war in south america, except for trade, due to both goverments being right wing. Chairman Kusnetzov sees this as a blow to the west.
