DBWI: Stephen King survives

In 1999, American writer Stephen King was hit by a van while on a walk. He died right after being brought to the hospital.

At the time of his death, King had written several novels and short stories, of which the Dark Tower series is considered his magnum opus, although part of this success is due to his son Joe, who completed the series in the early 2000s. Joe, a succesful writer in his own right, later also completed some of his father's other unfinished novels, like Buick 8.

My question is this: if King had survived, how do you things would have turned out?
He loathed Kubrick's film adaptation of The Shining and talked about writing a sequel that would continue the story, but in his vision rather than Kubrick's. If King had lived, he could have written the sequel.
