Armenian Revival Party
Armenian Revival Party wikibox.png

The Armenian Revival Party (Armenian: Haykakan Veratsnund Kusaktsutyun) is a regional catch-all Armenian nationalist political party in Iran. The HVK is divided into two factions: the minority Separatists, who advocate for the establishment of an independent Armenia and the eventual inclusion of Armenian-populated territories in neighbouring countries; and the majority Federalists, who advocate the transformation of the unitary Republic of Iran into a federal system. The HVK is the largest party in the devolved Assembly of Hayastan, as well as being a prominent but small party in the Iranian Assembly of People’s Representatives. The party’s current leader, Hrant Khachaturian, has been Hayastan’s Ishkhan since 2002.

The Revival Party was founded in 1917 by Armenian intellectuals after some nationalists were caught up in Iran’s Emergency Period (which was directed at socialists and trade unions). For the first two decades of its existence the HVK’s appeal was limited to middle-class Christian Armenians until the first elections to the devolved Assembly of Hayastan in 1934, in which the party won 12 of the 120 seats. From that point onward the HVK broadened its appeal to working-class and Muslim Armenians, and gained its first seat in the Assembly of People’s Representatives in 1951. The party achieved a plurality in the Assembly of Hayastan in 1975 and has since led a series of minority and coalition governments. The HVK is currently in a coalition government with the Radical Democratic Party of Iran. At the national level, the HVK has entered into confidence-and-supply agreements with minority governments, but is yet to join a formal coalition government.

Despite the Revival Party’s origin in Christian Armenian intellectual circles, it currently holds broad appeal to all sections of Armenian society in both Hayastan and elsewhere in Iran. The HVK generally supports state intervention in the economy, strong constitutional and electoral reform, and peaceful cooperation in foreign affairs.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy was an American cult leader, political activist, preacher and faith healer who lead the religious institution known as the "One True Kingdom of God" (later renamed to the Kingdom of Heaven in 1963). He was well regarded for his vehement Isolationism prior to the Attack on Perry's Squadron in 1940, which culminated in the "Bayonets or Bread" speech to the American Constituent Assembly. He was also controversially known for his staunch pro-british sentiments, in opposition to the policies of American Chancellor Ernest King, a known Anglophobe. His political relationships with the Dixiecrats did lead to South Carolina Senator Ellison Smith eventually recommending him for a naval posting at the American Caroline Islands. During World War II (also known by the Anglophobic "War of British Oppression" by members of the north, who were embittered following the Treaty of Vichy which granted the Confederacy it's independence from the United States.

In 1950, he would find the "Kingdom" in Charleston, South Carolina. While he would not join the Klan for fear of political backlash, he would run for local office multiple times, without much success. He did, however, start to garner more and more of a following for the Kingdom, officially hiring his wife, Marylin Monroe as a second in command. The teachings of the Kingdom were, in Kennedy's words, : "A simple guide to living the best life that god has granted us mortal beings". However, there were multiple allegations of abuse by the higher ups and rumors of numerous affairs, including a vow for "celibacy for all except the 'enlightened one'". Members were expected to not marry and never interact with the opposite sex, except in the most dire circumstances. In 1955, the Kingdom would report a following of 449 members. Four years later, Kennedy ended up on the Chancellor's radar with his efficiency in managing the Kingdom, with him giving frequent interviews that appeared genuine. He would be Appointed by Chancellor Adalai Stevenson as the Governor-General of the Johnstown Colony. For the President, it was simply a political matter of removing vocal Democratic-Republican critic Chester Nimitz from his post as revenge.

In 1970, there had been rumors flying out from Johnstown that Kennedy had been complicit in numerous crimes against humanity, including the prohibition of food and drink for any who needed to be "retaught". Brutal pictures had been smuggled out by dissenters of children being beaten by guards for speaking out against the leadership. Accounts by ex-members told a picture of "five minutes of hate" for those that had "forsaken god and the almighty leader". There had even been issues with the locals on Johnstown, with members robbing and stealing what they could from the locals in order to bring them back to the community. These allegations reached all the way up to Parliament, with MP Lawton Chiles (DIX from Seminole), John Ashbrook (WHG from Iroquois) and Ronald Reagan (FED from Nuavoo) deciding to investigate the affairs themselves. On November 16, 1970 they arrived in a four seat nuclear powered Zeppelin to investigate. Tensions were generally high, but Kennedy did dispatch a welcoming committee to walk them through the camp, headed by his second in command (and oldest son) James Monroe Kennedy. The conditions were generally poor, but Kennedy blamed it on not enough supplies being brought forward or on corruption of the local officials. The politicians did have a keen note of whenever a member of the community would be asked a question, Kennedy himself insisted that the member would not speak, arguing there was no need for it. This raised suspicions, and the committee eventually ended up telling Kennedy that they would like to open up criminal charges against the religious leader for "poor...everything".

When the party got back to the airport the next day, a few trucks loaded with men ambushed them and their flight, killing the pilot and forcing Reagan to take the controls in order to get the Zeppelin away from the camp's dirt air strip. Shortly afterwards, Kennedy would tape himself going on a rant against the "tyrannical machine that wanted to take all the kids and turn them into communists." He would vow he'd rather kill himself than let the "commies win against this country". He passed on orders for everyone to drink large vats of cyanide laced Pez-Cola, commonly referred to today as "Drinking the Pez". In total, 1,089 bodies (213 of them identified as children) ended up being discovered by the Jamestown colonial police during investigations of the crime scene, with the body of Reverend Kennedy found, slumped over a desk with a .38 caliber pistol on it. The Johnstown incident remains the largest single mass suicide to this day. Controversially, his body was taken to be buried in the South, and is currently located at the Vicksburg National Cemetery in the Confederate States of America. The body has been the source of recent tensions between the United States and the Confederacy, with the CSA refusing to exhume his remains for shipment back up to Boston., in spite of repeated attempts by surviving family members of Kennedy to grant the body a proper burial in Northern soil.

While the Ponyville-North Everfree riding has been a reliable hold for the Triple Crown Party for decades, the 1002 election called that into question after Coronist candidate Spoiled Rich reached over 35% of the vote. The seat was thought to be in reach for a Coronist pickup, especially with Spoiled Rich's strong fundraising early in the campaign that built on her support from the national party. However, the issues of the election quickly turned against Spoiled Rich and the Coronists. EEA Chancellor Neighsay's reversal regarding the accreditation of Twilight's School of Friendship may have helped the Coronists elsewhere in Equestria, but in Ponyville, the school's home, the Coronist opposition to the school's accreditation turned many voters against Spoiled Rich and the Coronists. However, just because the voters were against the Coronists didn't mean they were for the Tricrowners. Over the past several years, Ponyville more than anywhere else in Equestria had been the site of more monster incidents due to its proximity to the Everfree Forest and was where both Nightmare Moon and Discord staged their returns when coming back to attack Equestria. The failure of parliament and arguably of Celestia to respond to the apparent increased threat, combined with the closeness of Ponyville to the Everfree Forest, led to many voters turning their back on both major parties.

Previously, the Rhinoceros Party would have been the recipient of a larger increase in protest votes. In the post-Cozy Glow Crisis election, however, it looks like a satirical protest did not seem appropriate to many voters upset with the conduct of both parties. Many Ponyville voters still agreed with the principles of diversity and friendship that Twilight Sparkle stood for and wanted a party that would respect and uphold them. Ponyville is after all one of the most diverse cities in the country bewteen pegasi, unicorns, and earth ponies. And with the Cozy Glow Crisis causing a magic outage not just for ponies but for other magical creatures and the Everfree Forest as well, some gained a greater appreciation for the nature of the forest. It's for these reasons that while Amethyst Star held steady and won reelection, much of the support swinging away from the Coronists and from Lyra Heartstrings went not to Amethyst but to the Everfree Party. The Everfree candidate, Tree Hugger, gained support from an endorsement by Ponyville's most prominent expert on the animals of the Everfree Forest, and from the cross-campaigning between Tree Hugger and Meringue, the MP for Ponyville's reserved earth pony riding and one of the five Everfree Party earth pony reserved MPs.

Additionally, while Princess Twilight Sparkle may have helped the Tricrowners nationally and in holding some vulnerable Canterlot ridings, her prominence may have actually hurt the Tricrowners in Ponyville-North Everfree. In an interview during the election campaign, Amethyst Star complained how Princess Twilight's had sidelined her role as an MP over the years. With the princess having a close ear to Celestia and such a hoof in the local runnings of Ponyville, Amethyst said she felt like her responsibilities toward her constituents were being bypassed as ponies would go directly to Twilight instead of her. That decreased visibility among her constituents likely hurt Amethyst in the campaign, even as Twilight stayed out of the political arena until her now famous Friendship Address at the Summer Sun Celebration late in the campaign. These factors all combined to leave the Triple Crown Party neither gaining nor losing from the vote shift in Ponyville-North Everfree, while the Everfree Party saw a boost that nearly put them on par with the Coronists. In the end, Amethyst Star was reelected by a wide margin thanks to the division among the Tricrowners' opposition from both the right and left wings.
Finally working more on the next update for Switching Horses Midstream and have a sequel box for this.

"Good evening..."

Great work! If Lord Halifax was PM from 1940 to 1945, did Britain exit World War II?
Thanks! Britain here pursued isolation and appeasement for much longer under Prime Ministers Hoare and Halifax, who refused to join the war, known here as the German Crisis. When Britain could no longer avoid the conflict and public opinion turned sharply against the government, Halifax and his cabinet reluctantly entered the conflict. They were thoroughly unprepared though, and it was widely understood that the government had absolutely bungled the handling of the war. This ultimately led to Attlee's landslide win in 1945 and the Tories' fall to perpetual third place.
