Okay, apparently it needs to be explained. My point was that after Andre Gardes, a heavily armed French physicist, had carried out a much more significant terrorist attack than in reality, the game about a heavily armed French physicist would have been banned in the UK. Gordon Freeman could have been named Dyson Poincaré.

Andrè attacked a British Isle?
The thing with Andre Gardes actually happened. He was an unemployed nuclear physicist who apparently convinced himself he was the rightful heir and "Seigneur" of the small formerly feudal state of Sark. So in 1990 he attempted a one-man invasion but was stopped by the locals. He tried again a year later but was stopped in Guernsey.
According to the Half-Life Fandom wiki: "The name "Gordon Freeman" was coined by Gabe Newell. When looking for a name for the character, Marc Laidlaw wanted it to evoke some famous scientists. So he took inspiration in the names of his "heroes": the name of physicist/philosopher Freeman Dyson mixed with that of the French mathematician Jules Henri Poincaré, ending up with "Dyson Poincaré." Gabe Newell disliked it and suggested "Gordon Freeman" instead."

Isnt that the one guy that sat on a park waiting for the right time to launch his takeover?

The Nevada Gaming Control Board is the lower house of the Nevadan Parliament, alongside the Senate of Nevada. Legislation must start in the lower house, being drafted in committees randomly organized every three months via drawing straws on the members interested in such committees. The Board is known for the unique process of Sortition to select 130 of the 138 members, with each of the 10 Casinos randomly selecting 13 members, employees or patrons of the Casino to serve 7 month tenures. The other 8 members are organized into eight single member districts and put forth by parties in order to get their approval. When one votes in these single member districts, they are presented with either casting a vote against a candidate, which would then be a negative (-) or cast a vote in favor of a candidate, which would count as a plus for him or her (+).

The Presiding officer is nominally the Speaker, although most legislative authority is directed from Majority Leader and enforced in close votes by the Majority Whip. The same is true for the opposition, but without control over the schedule of what bills are presented or when votes take place, though by law the Majority leader must inform the Minority Leader of any vote at least 2 hours in advance. A Majority is needed to pass major changes to the Nevadan Constitution, declare war, states of emergency and for Judicial Appointments to the lower Las Vegas Special Courts.

However, a bare plurality of seats is all that is needed to pass certain types of legislation, pass writs of certification and to remove the Gambling Minister of the Wasteland should he be found guilty of corruption, dereliction of duty and incompetence , provided there is no veto by the Senate of Nevada. Any Impeachment proceedings against the Vice Gambling Minister cannot be vetoed by the Senate, but can be blocked by either a court order or an executive decision by the Gambling Minister, so long as that executive decision has the consent of the Special Courts of Las Vegas.

Yowie Outback.jpg

A photo of a yowie taken on the Australian Outback during the 2000s.

The Yowie (Gigantopithecus yowie), is a rare species of ape that lives in Australia. It is likely descended from the extinct Gigantopithecus that died out roughly 300 thousand years ago. It is closely related to the Orangutan and Yeti of Asia and the Sasquatch of North America.

The yowie is also one of the only three known living primate that lives in Australia, other two being humans themselves and vampires.

Description, weight and height

Adult yowies are typically between 6 and 8 feet (1.8 and 2.43 meters) tall, though the largest ones on record stood up to about 12 feet (3.65 meters) tall. In weight, they normally weight 250 and 500 pounds (113 to 226 kilograms). Male yowies are typically larger than females in both height and weight. Their footprints are also similar in size to its close cousins, the sasquatch and the yeti.

Much like the sasquatch, the skin color of the yowie is usually with gray or light black. While their hair color is usually either reddish-brown (similar to that on its close relative, the orangutan), brown, gray, or black.

The yowie, much like the Skunk ape, is also infamous for its foul body odor, which is often described as being similar to either "wet-dog" or sulfur.

History and relations with humans

The yowie is though to be a descendent of the extinct ape the Gigantopithecus, which went extinct around 300 thousand years ago. The Gigantopithecus is also the likely ancestor of the Sasquatch of North America and the Yeti of Asia.

Before officially being discovered, the Aboriginals would tell tales about the yowie and would later tell the British colonists about the creature. However, due to its rarity, many would come to think of the creature as a hoax.

It wouldn't be until In 1976 that the creature would officially be discovered. While on an expedition to the Australian Outback, explorer Rex Gilroy and his expedition team would capture one alive, tranquilize it, and ship it back to Sydney to be studied. After being studied by him and several scientists, it was revealed that it was an undiscovered creature and would be given the name Yowie with its scientific name being Gigantopithecus yowie.

Yowies tend to be pretty shy of humans and normally avoid them. Males have been known on rare occasions to attack humans during mating season and females will also attack on rare occasions if they have their infants with them and feel like either them or their infant feels threatened.

Diet

The yowie, like most primates, are omnivorous animals. They have a wide range of food in their diets, ranging from leaves, grasses, fruit, vegetables, sticks, honey and various types of insects (usually ants, termites and bees). They are also known to hunt animals such as kangaroos, wallabies, wombats and emus and have also been known to kill domesticated animals and scavenge from carrion of already dead animals as well as roadkill.

Range and habitat

Yowies are known to live in the Outback and the jungles of Eastern Australia.

The yowie was already a rare creature at the time of its official discovery, but over the years its population has gone down quite a lot due to poachers and trophy hunters killing the animal for sport and by farmers and ranchers who view the ape as a pest due to them occasionally killing domesticated animals. As of 2021, the primate is listed as "critically endangered" with its numbers likely in the upper hundreds.

Notes

[1]:
I am well aware of the crosses next to the genus and species names on the infobox (meaning that animal is extinct). However, the Yeti is still alive. I just couldn't figure out how to remove the crosses.

So, no Vampire sightings in Australia?

The Vampire (Homo vampyrus) is a species of humanoid apes closely related to human beings and are roughly the same size. Its habitat is all over the world except in the coldest of climates, though the counties with the most vampires are Romania and the United States.

Decided to do brief write-ups for my wikiboxes (I'll probably do my alternate Bastille one tomorrow):

wikibox-battle-of-the-tlacopan-causeway-capture-1-png.661239

The Battle of the Tlacopan Causeway, also known as the Last Stand of Cortés, was the final major engagement of the Cortés Expedition, which saw the Spanish and their Tlaxcala allies effectively wiped out by an Aztec force in retaliation for abuses they had perpetrated during their stay in Tenochtitlan.

Realizing that the people of Tenochtitlan were now hostile to them, and that Cuitláhuac and Cuauhtémoc were completely unwilling to treat with them, Hernan Cortés and his followers decided to abandon the city for the time being and return to friendly territory to make further plans. While attempting to slip out of the city under cover of a stormy night, they were spotted before they could reach the Tlacopan Causeway. Pursued by foot soldiers and harried by archers in canoes, the Spanish and Tlaxcalans attempted to fight their way to Tlacopan, but most died or were captured. Some were killed by the Aztec forces, while others fell from the causeway into the waters of Lake Texcoco, where they drowned due to being burdened by their equipment and plunder. Many of those captured were taken to the Great Pyramid of Tenochtitlan and sacrificed to the Aztec gods. Cortés was unhorsed in the fighting and received a fatal head injury from an Eagle Warrior known as Toltetli, while his lieutenant Pedro de Alvarado was taken prisoner and subsequently sacrificed. Both of their corpses were mutilated by the vengeful Aztecs. The few survivors who managed to escape were too few and too scattered to be a serious threat. Moreover, because Cortés and his men were acting without authorization from the Spanish crown, there was little threat of retribution from Spain or its colonies.

While the Aztecs scored a crushing victory, all but annihilating the enemy force, a genie had been unleashed, one that would not be so easily be put back in its bottle. Old World diseases unknowingly introduced by the Spanish wrought havoc on the Aztec population, and a significant portion of its leadership had earlier been massacred by De Alvarado, significantly depleting the Aztec Empire's ability to wage war and exert control over its subject peoples. Furthermore, the Tlaxcala Confederacy decided to continue its war with the Aztecs, believing that they should see their commitment to defeating them through. Sensing weakness, other regional powers (most prominently the Tarascan state) decided to take the opportunity to defeat the hegemon, while some of the Aztecs' other subject peoples joined those who were already rebelling against their rule. A series of conflicts retroactively known as the Locust Wars rocked Mesoamerica in the aftermath of the Cortés Expedition, upending the status quo and leading to yet more destruction and carnage.
