  1. Place In the Sun: What If Italy Joined the Central Powers? (1.0)

Excellent news!!! Really looking forward to it.
  2. WI: The British keeps the deep south in US revolution?

Assuming ITTL that at war's end the Brits keep North and South Carolina and Georgia, the ATL Constitutional Convention will very likely go for an outright ban in the remaining states. Even Virginia had petitioned King George III shortly before the war to halt slave importation to that colony, so...
  3. AHC: A large-budget and well made adaptation of Robert E. Howard's "Conan" is filmed in the 50s or early 60s

Newman in “Two for Adventure “. I like that. Alan Ladd would have had the short stature needed as well.
  4. AHC: A large-budget and well made adaptation of Robert E. Howard's "Conan" is filmed in the 50s or early 60s

As a long-time Leiber fan, I’d say Clint Walker with blond hair would have made a great Fafhrd. Who could have played the Mouser though? For some reason the devilish glint in Jack Nicholson’s eye comes to mind, although the timing would be wrong
  5. If the Americans co-opted the Baathists after the 2003 invasion of Iraq?

If i recall correctly, one of the Saudi princes close to the Bush family advised (before the actual invasion) that the US after taking Baghdad, arrest the upper echelon Baathists closest to Saddam along with the senior officers in the Iraqi army and then order the bulk of the army to return to...
  6. WI Harold Godwinson loses, but lives?

One strategy would be for Harold to retreat with his army to London while sending Leofwine north (possibly to York), other nobles branch out to other parts of the realm to raise another army. the Normans have burned their ships I think and therefore have no option but to kill Harold. London is a...
  7. Place In the Sun: What If Italy Joined the Central Powers? (1.0)

This. And of course, vote for Patton in Korea, another excellent TL also deserving of a Turtledove
  8. Place In the Sun: What If Italy Joined the Central Powers? (1.0)

Remember, "Britain does not have permanent friends, it does have permanent interests." England may well see it's interests opposed to those of France. Particularly if Germany plays it's cards well with the British Empire and with the USA.
  9. Place In the Sun: What If Italy Joined the Central Powers? (1.0)

The other possibility might be the formation of a "collaborationist" or Vichy-type political administration. The names and faces are French but the decision making is done by bureaucrats working for the Germans. Historically, this will often keep things relatively stable so long as no internal...
  10. WI: Nixon Wins in 1960 and Invades Cuba

Just to clarify my previous post: My points were that 1) The US military circa 1961 was perfectly able to overthrow/displace the Castro regime. the Soviets were not about to risk a serious conflict with the West over Cuba. 2) The government which takes Castro's place might, in fact very likely...
  11. WI: Nixon Wins in 1960 and Invades Cuba

1960 was only 15 years after the end of the Pacific war. There were loads of senior officers and non-coms with real-world experience in invading defended islands. Courtesy of the USN Cuba would be as cut off as Tarawa or Okinawa from outside help. Newer technologies, like the use of...
  12. WI: George Washington refused the Presidency?

Very interesting maps! So if the Brits somehow won the ARW, Colonies like Georgia or Virginia might still extend all the way to the Mississippi? Or would smaller entities be easier to govern?
  13. Culture of British America with no ARW?

Would the influx of immigrants from Germany, Scandinavia, etc. even take place ITTL? Perhaps North America will be used for unwanted Home Islands citizens such as the Irish, Scots and the poor and/or criminal rather than Australia.
  14. Place In the Sun: What If Italy Joined the Central Powers? (1.0)

More seriously with regards to Goering, if memory serves he was an officer in von Richthofen's squadron, so if his old commander rises in the Air Ministry, he might too. Alternatively he might get involved in civilian air transport. A continental Reich will need airlines and airports.
  15. WI: Dogs and Cats were never Domesticated?

Very true, particularly about it being their choice too.
  16. Place In the Sun: What If Italy Joined the Central Powers? (1.0)

IOTL 1920's in the US pilots would make a living doing air shows, barnstorming and taking civilians up for a ride. As an Ace, Goering could do that for a while after he's demobbed. It could be hazardous work though. Be a shame if something happened to him.
  17. Place In the Sun: What If Italy Joined the Central Powers? (1.0)

Of course ITTL, von Richtofen might rise to be head of the Luftwaffe, because he is a Baron, and therefore of sufficient social standing. Fatty was not nobility, so far as I know. Is Adolf still stuck in the army out in eastern Europe?
  18. WI: Dogs and Cats were never Domesticated?

I think the latest theory is that dog domestication happened twice. Once in the Mediterranean area and once in East Asia but way back, circa 30000+ years ago. In both cases from wolves. Wolves have a complex social structure that can exile some members from the pack. The theory is that human...
  19. Place In the Sun: What If Italy Joined the Central Powers? (1.0)

The US Navy used blimps before and during WW 2 and kept them in operation for anti-submarine patrols as late as 1961
