    Zhirinovsky's Russian Empire

I mostly remember the genocide in Afghanistan. Bucha doesn't rise to that level in raw numbers, but there are plenty of parallels to be found with reality. Though Zhirinovsky was more competent in this story than Putin in real life I believe.

"We Won - So, What Now?": Selected Stories from World War Two and Its Aftermath

Would congress helping the president crush trade unions really bring unrest down? I would think the ensuing environment where the workers have less protections or ways to improve their lives would make the unrest harder. This makes it seem like the unrest was purely the idea of the unions with...

Hell or Highwater: Buddy Cianci and the Decade of Malice

Driving the aids epidemic underground is going to have big consequences later on. We currently have 76 million people who have been infected since 1981, with more than 22 million deaths. With less awareness, later development of anti-viral medication, and a concerted effort to have instutions...

Hell or Highwater: Buddy Cianci and the Decade of Malice

It does somewhat. It's just that my knowledge regarding civil rights in the US is a bit spotty at best. When I think civil rights I imagine it all happening in the 60s and 70s. Followed by a decade of disco and cocaine. And then the 90s with the Clintons. The 80s is kind of a black hole for me.

Hell or Highwater: Buddy Cianci and the Decade of Malice

I'm a bit confused why and how a ban on desegregation busing was even considered as a good idea in 1982. This seems more like something for 1962. What exactly was he trying to accomplish here?

Hell or Highwater: Buddy Cianci and the Decade of Malice

I can't imagine how badly the CIA has fucked up for them to be actually abolished, considering what they got and get away with in otl.

28 Days Later - Death of a Nation

Maybe it's the fact that if you get close enough to a rage-zombie to become infected, chances are you're going to end up being beaten to death. Hard to be an a-symptomatic carrier under those conditions.

28 Days Later - Death of a Nation

The problem with rage virus, is that it has virtually no a-symptomatic carriers. You never have to worry if someone is infected, because they will very quickly inform you if that is the case. Covid screwed us over in large part because you could infect people without knowing. If you developed...

28 Days Later - Death of a Nation

I still wouldn't call it realistic. Symptoms after minutes, with full clinical picture after 90 minutes? The quickest incubation time for any disease affecting humans is I believe Salmonella, between 8-12 hours but with 6 hours if you get a large initial dose. But that's not only the exception...

In this country , it is good to kill an admiral from time to time

Alright, stupid question. What happened to the Dutch in this timeline? I remember reading this thread in the long ago, but stopped when the Netherlands ceased to exist or something. There are no threadmarks to easily check, so if someone would be so kind.

What if the United States Marine Corps was disbanded after World War II?

Ah, but you're not replacing marines with army draftees. You're replacing them with draftees from an Army-Marines mash-up. Having the army take on the responsibilities of the marines in addition to their own will inevitably negatively affect both performance and overall organisation. Korea will...
