When the Wind Blew: a P&S Open Thread

From watching this I realised that Threads is set in 1983 not 1984 like I always supposed since that was when it came out, and when I first saw it.

WI: The Enterprise completes its five year mission (Star Trek survives for 5 seasons)

Insurrection or Nemesis should have been Enterprise-E’s Dominion War film imho. I fairly sure that ITTL this will not be a problem.

    TL: UK Overseas Regions [Redux]

Given some of the points of view express by some in Labour during this period OTL this Kinnock administration is restrained and sensible- hardly the 'looney left heh? Kinnock sounds like a decent PM ITTL. Britain sounds like its getting a good deal from its overseas regions as well as being in...

WI: The Enterprise completes its five year mission (Star Trek survives for 5 seasons)

Perhaps, but given we have not had all of TNG yet, it might be the ‘Picard push’ of later seasons does not happen and Stewart is not the focus as much.

WI: The Enterprise completes its five year mission (Star Trek survives for 5 seasons)

I thought it would be fun to change the Picard focus of the OTL movies somewhere else. Spiner can act and this allows him to stretch some range as the main character, but also allow the other cast to do something outside their norm - like Picard being Indy, or Worf a committed family man. Was...

WI: The Enterprise completes its five year mission (Star Trek survives for 5 seasons)

Are you planning to end TNG with All Good Things or something like it? If so, then having Q as the antagonist of TNG: The Movie might seem a bit repetitive for the fans. For a Yesterday's Enterprise changed timeline like story (and again if YE went out as OTL many will say this is repetitive)...

The Assassination of Tony Blair - A British TL

Well Syria and Iraw are a mess. Are the Kurds in rebellion also? Grieve is heading for a massive defeat here - even if Cornwall where invaded somehow I suspect he would still lose an election at this point. Will Burnham pull a 'vote of no confidence' or will he give the Tories more time to...

WI: RMS Titanic collides with SS New York during departure.

One possible effect; the British press make much hay of the collision of New York and Titanic and compare them to the Olympic - Hawke collision. Questions are Asked about the giant liners safety, the issues about lifeboats, hull and watertight door design, wireless regs and above all about the...

The Highest Point of Perfection — A Monarchical USA timeline

Interesting, did not expect the British to start with Rhode Island, that's hardly much of a prize compared to say New England or taking the Pacific or Midwest territories. We will see what happens next, but Monarch of the US seems to suggest reunification for the country? Or perhaps just a...

Solar Dreams: a history of solar energy (1878 - 2025)

France does have its N. African holdings to use for the sun though. They will catch up I am sure, eventually. Probably as a side effect of what is going on in Egypt.
