  1. King Theodore's Corsica

I agree with the optimistic thoughts of others about the coming reign of Theodore II. Despite some of his youthful wild oats and poor financial management (and who among us didn't go down THAT road, at least a little), he is clearly a more engaging and appealing personality than his father...
  2. Stupid Luck and Happenstance, Thread III

[the little voice in Kat’s mind] “Oh no, not another undeserved medal . . . how humiliating. I think I’ll don sackcloth and ashes and hide in a hole.”
  3. Arrogance and Empire - An Alternate 7 Years' War Novel - Part 9 - 1821-1836

Thank you for the maps. Very helpful. Even given that you've been working on this for many years, its an impressive, incredibly-well-thought-out, intricate effort. I'm enjoying it immensely. The British national conscience is going to be characterized by simmering hatred and dreams of...
  4. Stupid Luck and Happenstance, Thread III

    I’m with Ben. She’s insufferable.
  5. Arrogance and Empire - An Alternate 7 Years' War Novel - Part 8 - 1809-1810

The Irish probably have some time to prepare. I don't think that Britain will be in any position to undertake offensive military action for a while. Their manpower is decimated. The land is destroyed, the economy is tanked and military equipment/powder, etc. is scarce.
  6. Arrogance and Empire - An Alternate 7 Years' War Novel - Part 8 - 1809-1810

So . . . I would think that its probably unlikely Britain will ever ally with France in the event that analogous 20th century global wars happen in TTL. This war of annihilation will be leave permanent scars of white-hot hatred on the British psyche.
  7. Something Serious Has Happened on Air Force One (a Tl/story by Geon)

And a long dormant moral fiber in George Wallace's soul begins unexpectedly to flicker with renewed life . . .
  8. Crown Imperial: An Alt British Monarchy

OK (he says with begrudging reluctance), I will forgive you this. Not because I want to, but because you have earned our trust. And I'm still going to be sad . . .
  9. A Queen Twice Over: Mary Tudor the Elder Marries Francis I of France

Oh sure, Celicy is just three and all that so her pouty, testy, willful behavior isn't too unexpected . . . but if she continues to be her mother's daughter as she grows up, the teenaged years could be explosive.
  10. The Way of the Righteous: An Alternate Christianity Timeline

This is a very interesting beginning. Any non-theological contemplation of early christianity spotlights the precarious path it followed to becoming what it is today. This is one of the few TLs that takes on (at least one of) the MANY drastically different ways in which it could have gone...
  11. Stupid Luck and Happenstance, Thread III

This sentence provides a beautifully understated insight. And overall, this is one of the most moving chapters of this amazing opus.
  12. Saratoga of the South: An Alternate History of America

Glad to see you back, and looking forward to future developments in this TL.
  13. Crown Imperial: An Alt British Monarchy

First of all, I am absolutely loving this TL. Your creativity, writing style and the depth of your research are excellent. It makes me wish that this George V had actually lived. Your research skill is spotlighted by the quoted passage, above. I've been a lawyer for 35 years and this is the...
  14. A Queen Twice Over: Mary Tudor the Elder Marries Francis I of France

You’ve deliberately written yourself into an unenviable position: it’s a brilliant plot point . . . and no matter which path forward you choose, it’s inevitably tragic.
  15. Until Every Drop of Blood Is Paid: A More Radical American Civil War

    That was a beautifully-written scene . . .
