Points of Divergence : 1066
Year of the most important battle in the history of the world, in which the bloody Norman wankers beat the heroic (but completely shagged-out from just having marched all the way from Stamford Bridge after having defeated Harald Hardrada's Norwegians) Anglo-Saxons under Harold Godwinson, him of arrow-eye syndrome fame. Because this was clearly the wrong result, the Battle of Hastings and 1066 in general has been a very fertile year for WIs.
Was immortalised in the classic British spoof history book 1066 And All That, published in the early 1930s. Oh, and the Bayeux Tapestry.
