  1. WI: American Annexation of Canada

So I’ve seen talk about *how* the US might come to annex Canada, but I’m interested in the effect of an annexation. Say Canada is militarily annexed sometime between 1840 and, say, 1880, whatever the means, what are the prospects for statehood in the provinces? Are the Canadians likely to be...
  2. The Most ASB moment of WW2?

Bomb goes off right next to Hitler but he survives because some colonel unwittingly moved the bomb with his foot? Sure... Though the total Francescrew is pretty BS too. And the Ameriwank for that matter. "Weren't you guys in a depression!?"
  3. US as Sole Nuclear Power = Safer World?

Repeat after me, "No MAD = World War III".
  4. WI: US Uses Nuclear Weapons in Afghanistan After 9/11

The only way the U.S. Is using Nukes anywhere is as an instant response. The only way we'd nuke say, Baghdad, would be if a nuclear weapon went off in New York and within the day we positively absolutely knew that the Iraqi regime was responsible. And even then, we probably wouldn't do it if we...
  5. Best Time for Communist Revolution (WorldWide)?

Uh huh. Anyway, you couldn't so much as get all of Europe without a war and you'll never have enough communists in many countries. There will be no world revolution of any kind by any ideology for the same reason there will be no world government.
  6. How would Soviet formations preform in the Golan Heights battle?

So... With this whole nukes and actual Soviet invasion scenario here... What's the US doing? I doubt just sitting there and letting it all play out.
  7. Best Time for Communist Revolution (WorldWide)?

There will simply never be enough commies in enough countries. I mean hell, we can't even agree to get rid of monarchy.
  8. How important was George Washington to the ARW

As other's have more or less said, he's not important because of his skills as a combat commander, but because of his ability to keep the Continental Army in the field against superior British forces. He's like the opposite of Robb Stark.
  9. CSA try to sell or exterminate their slaves

Why do they do this? Is it because they just learned Steiner failed to organize a counterattack? This is way ASB.
  10. Who had better training the Heer or the Red Army during the Eastern Front?

And so, they cunningly invaded Russia.:p
  11. US Strategy and Goals for CP-sided WWI?

How did the USN compare to the RN at the time?
  12. Atomic bomb ready for use before German capitulation: Matters of target selection

Except Churchill doesn't get to pick targets, FDR does. Which is another thing, does anyone have any insight on FDR's thoughts vis a vis the bomb?
  13. Atomic bomb ready for use before German capitulation: Matters of target selection

Were there even enough targets? I mean, you can always bomb a ruin but the impact will be lessened. Though I suppose it's possible in the case of Germany the generals could win out and get the bombs used tactically.
  14. AHC: US Native Americans Aren't Expelled Amidst Settler Colonization

You would need good settler and Indian leaders in the early days of colonization I think, but yes, with an early PoD I think it could be done. The hard truth is though, that the Indians will largely have to roll over and either surrender their land or assimilate completely. Part of the problem...
  15. Victoria II

Moralism spam for USA more or less.
  16. If Caesar Isn't Assassinated, Does He Conquer Parthia?

I'm interested in the return journey, IIRC, wasn't his plan to return through Scythia? And maybe Germany? (Pretty sure about Scythia, less so about Germany)
  17. How do you defeat an army based on light cavalry in the middle ages?

Fortified positions and advantageous terrain is really what you need. Take their mobility away.
  18. Europa Universalis IV - 13 August 2013

So, is anyone else having altogether too much fun with the new nation designer? So far I've made Texas, California, Ankh-Morpork, Best Korea, the Dothraki, Skyrim, Rome, and Athens. The random set up is fun too but man does it produce some ugly borders.
  19. Could the Survival of Tsar Alexander II Have Peacefully Created a Democracy?

Well, TBH, Russian history doesn't give me much hope, but it's possible. Would Alexander III have the ability to disolve the Duma and his predecessor's constitution? Or would that be an overreach? I'm kinda sketchy on Russia history.
  20. What Would an Invasion and Occupation of Japan Have Been Like?

It should be noted that, when the military heard about the Manhattan project, pretty much all of them, up to and including Marshall, wanted to use them to clear the landing beaches. The Japanese defense plan called for dropping the entire Japanese Airforce on our fleet and using civilians as...
