  1. Dixieland: The Country of Tomorrow, Everyday (yet another Confederate TL)

This is literally amazing... I love these butterflies so much.
  2. How would NYC look today without skyscrapers

Definitely. DC looks like a good example of what you’d see. The ‘suburbs’ would likely be very high-density and urban, like Arlington.
  3. What happens to Mao if there is no Cultural Revolution?

Agreed. And China/the world would be so much better off without him.
  4. A third Sino-Japanese war during the great leap forward or ttl equivalent with a surviving Imperial Japan

This is also unlikely because if Japan withdrew, Communist victory would probably be butterflied, and so would the Great Leap Forward.
  5. Questions About Balkanised India

If we’re talking about a South Asia that has seen peripheral British encroachment - most likely, you’d have many more countries than just the ones you’ve listed. For instance, the Nizam of Hyderabad didn’t control all of the Telugu-speaking areas, but they were very, very wealthy.
  6. Tiananmen Leading to More?

Of course. Mao's rule was widely viewed as a disaster amongst the party elite. Look into Zhao Ziyang and Hu Yaobang; both lost power after Tiananmen, but they could have led to a democratic China. It's not like we'll ever know how much support there is for the CCP, since independent polling...
  7. A Bleeding Heart of Steel: Stalin Dies Early

I see the Sino-Soviet split as inevitable due to Mao wanting to lead his own 'bloc,' and the Americans were more than happy to help. Mao used Stalinism as an excuse, but really, it's been theorized that he barely understood Marxist principles, much less Stalinism. IOTL, Mao saw the Americans as...
  8. A Bleeding Heart of Steel: Stalin Dies Early

Without Taiwan as a wedge issue between China and the U.S., there'll probably be an earlier Sino-Soviet split.
  9. AHC: China using Cyrillic and being Eastern Orthodox

If the ROC "wins" the civil war, and the PRC is confined to Manchuria or Xinjiang, you could see a Russian-influenced PRC use Cyrillic for Chinese.
  10. WI there was an attempt to halt China's growth during the late 20th century?

My understanding is that violence is a big problem for investors seeking to go into Mexico. NAFTA/USMCA already make it a very good proposition cost-wise. In this regards, the best fixes could be a more effective War on Drugs and an earlier TPP.
  11. WI: Cold War averted/delayed/less intense

Stalin would probably be an obstacle, but what I’m looking for is a more cooperative global environment where maybe the US and USSR see each other as competitors but not enemies. I’d assume if the USSR had allowed Eastern European countries to develop fair democratic governments (not puppets)...
  12. The North Star is Red: a Wallace Presidency, KMT Victory, Alternate Cold War TL

This is a plan so crazy and whack that it’s authentically Mao. Love the story!
  13. Possible areas of expansion for China, Japan and Korea if all three begin to modernize in the 1800s?

If anything, I’d assume it would be the other way around — Western powers would try to prop up Japan as a counterbalance to China, not that it’d work out too well for them when Japan seeks resources and territory later.
  14. Death in Tehran - A Successful Operation Long Jump TL

Interesting. Maybe Romania will get a better deal than IOTL.
  15. Death in Tehran - A Successful Operation Long Jump TL

I’m curious about what happens to China — without a Stalin who saw Mao as a possibility, albeit an incredibly unlikely one, the new Soviet triumvirate is more likely to hand power over to the KMT. This WWII POD has great potential for Asia and Africa.
  16. The North Star is Red: a Wallace Presidency, KMT Victory, Alternate Cold War TL

This is an awesome story with a great premise. Looking forward to more!
  17. The Scramble for China

    Yeah lol not happening
  18. WI: The PRC takes over Taiwan

Ehh, the victims of Chiang’s White Terror would like to disagree with you.
