The freedmen (and women) might form their own “homelands,” sort of like the homelands in Apartheid South Africa. However, the freedmen would be forming their own homelands, not having them be imposed on them like in South Africa.
My thoughts:
1. I’m a lifelong white, Southerner who would celebrate the abolition of slavery if I lived in this version of the South. And it was my home state of Arkansas that pushed abolition across the line.

I just got caught up; the Red Summer post made me sick to my stomach. I’ve been a member of this website for almost 20 years and that’s the first post that has ever made me feel that way.
I’m torn: I kinda want Bolivia and Peru to get back their lost territories from Chile, but, at the same time, Chile is one of my favorite countries, so even though it’s opposed to the US, I don’t want it punished.
