    Malaya What If

If the forward based Commonwealth aircraft can get into action, without much destruction on the ground, two beneficial possibilities come to mind: [1] damage to the japanese invasion fleet and [2] Japanese air commanders would be faced with potentially diluting their air power to meet...

Italian Campaign - 1943-1944 Much of this volume covers Operations Avalanche and Slapstick and the succeeding breakouts from the beachheads and the push North. The success of coalition warfare between General Harold Alexander and General Lucian Truscott* was evident through mutual supporting...

Written from who's perspective? Of course, probably some from each party viewed themselves as crusaders.....;):(

Widmark would have been great in that role. I could also see Widmark replacing Alan Ladd in Shane, or William Holden in Stalag 17. Based on his earlier works as a villain, viewers would be in doubt about the nature of Widmark's charachter, until farther into the movie. Widmark could have...

I believe these boats were mentioned much earlier, but I don't remember if there was an intended purpose for them in Singapore/Malaya. What is their intended use?

DOWN THESE MEAN STREETS: Accounts of alternate crime, mystery & thriller adaptations.🕵️‍♂️

I saw the movie in the theater back in the 90's, but not since. I remember that it was a really good movie too. A Red Death is the next book in the series and it's basic premise should translate well to a movie. No clue who should be cast though. If you need to keep Denzel as Easy Rawlins...

    Malaya What If

There was a fleet excercise done in the late 30's showing Pearl Harbor's vulnerability to (Japanese) carrier attack. I believe that excercise was run by Admiral Richardson, the same leader who was so adamantly against moving the bulk of the US battlefleet from the West Coast to Pearl Harbor...

    Malaya What If

How quick/slow would the flow of information go from Regulus back to Singagpore and on to London? (I haven't a clue) If Winston beats other communications to the punch with FDR, Winston can "gild the lily" a bit to help sell British countermeasures. Not enough spin, so that later facts...

    Malaya What If

At this point, how close to OTL course is this version of Force Z? Plus, there's more ships than OTL, correct? And in theory, weather permitting, there's at least the prospect of friendly air cover.

Love this one too ! So many good additions and retentions. I particularly like the limitations of power expressed by the King of the Dead. Their overwhelmingly invincible appearance at the Pelennor Fields took on a Deus Ex Machina impact in the movie.

Chances of a German loss in 1918/1919 if the USA stayed neutral

How neutral? Strict neutrality, with no trade going between the US and any warring party? The US manufacturing and financial communities wouldn't have been keen on that, just as they were OTL.

Love it! This is the way it should have been done. Also, love the role switches for Cumberbaitch, Lee, and the Mortensons

I don't know if this paraphrase is used outside of the US: "You need to know when to fish, or to cut bait". Lord Gort made the correct "cut bait" call in France, even though it was held against him at the time. Now, he may get to make the call to "fish".

The One Fixed Point in a Changing Age: Alternate Sherlock Holmes filmographies!

How about Terrence Hardimann, Martin Shaw, or Simon Callow? Hardimann might be a hair too old for your window, and Shaw or Callow a hair too young?

Pearl Harbor never becomes a major Naval base?

Just to throw a wild card in here.... IF the British added Hawaii to the Empire circa 1900 +/-, and Pearl Harbor becomes a second tier base, might it get administartively attached to Canada, or, Australia, or New Zealand at some point? OR, even a wilder card, Oahu/Pearl Harbor gets whiffled...

A notion, rather than a fleshed out premise.... A Study in Scarlet(2010) Loosely based on the introductory book of the Holmes series, with the pre-story set in Australia vs Utah of the US, and the Mormon connection eliminated. The emphasis was more focused on the interplay of personalities of...

Pearl Harbor never becomes a major Naval base?

I would guess there's also an element of system inertia going on too, for military intelligence processing. Our author has added some units and material arriving fairly late in the lead up to invasion. Even very sharp local intelligence gatherers are forwarding some of those updates piecemeal...

The Day of the Lion: An Italian WW2 TL

An AH hypothetical question (double hypothetical?), is how that level of utter brutality in would affect post-war relations between Italy and Germany, and even to the extent of an altered NATO?
