  1. WI a civil war in Saudi Arabia in 1964

Could this have affected the 1973 Oil Crisis? (aka avert it or make it worse?)
  2. WI a civil war in Saudi Arabia in 1964

By early 1960s the power struggle between King Saud and Prince Faisal continued and when the King left for medical treatment abroad Prince Faisal formed a new Cabinet without the King's aprroval and virtually seized power in Saudi Arabia while on the same time he promised reforms. When King...
  3. George III of Great Britain... and France?

Wouldnt that upset the balance of powers in Europe? I mean when Charles II of Spain died childless 100 years ago Europe almost freaked out with the mere possibility that the French and Spanish Crowns could be united when Philip was elected as King of Spain. If the Crown was offered to George...
  4. WI: Nazis kidnap the Pope

Ιf the Pope is kidnapped in 1943 could this have triggered an early attempt to assassinate Hitler?
  5. How can the Germans stop the Allied invasion of Sicily?

Didnt the Allies launched "Operation Mincemeat" before their invasion of Sicily where they made Germans believe that the invasion was to be carried out in Greece instead of Italy? Germans bought the story and Hitler even sent Rommel to Greece to organise the defence of Peloponese which...
  6. Could the British have held Greece in WWII?

I dont think that Hitler would risk having Allies use Crete as a base to launch air attacks in Romanian oil fields and disrupt the supply routes to his troops in Eastern front.
  7. Hitler murdered, Heydrich takes over how bad

They wouldnt accept Heydrich but they would accept another SS officer aka Himmler?
  8. Hitler murdered, Heydrich takes over how bad

For that to happen Goering and Himmler have to die along with Hitler as well (at least, i m forgetting a few who were higher in succesion order)
  9. WI: Nazis kidnap the Pope

Μy name is Pope... Pius XII Pope... I d like a Holy Communion. Shaken not stirred.
  10. WI: Nazis kidnap the Pope

Pius XII allegedly had drafted an instrument of abdication which would be effective immediately the moment he was kidnapped. So Germans capture the Pope and the Cardinals present in Rome at the time (i assume that overseas Cardinals wont be able to travel) will quickly elect a new Pope.
  11. Could the British have held Greece in WWII?

If the British are defending the Yugoslavian borders then the Germans cannot outflank Metaxas line.
  12. Could the British have held Greece in WWII?

Well that didnt work out well in OTL
  13. Could the British have held Greece in WWII?

I think Bulgaria per se isnt a threat for the British. The Roupel fortresses line (Metaxas Line) was constructed for this exact reason. To stop an invasion from Bulgarian frontier. As for the rest of the frontier in Albania Greeks were doing a good job pushing back the Italians and the Royal...
  14. Could the British have held Greece in WWII?

In 1940 Greece was attacked by Italy and following a struggle Greece managed to repel the Italian attack. However in April 1941 Greece was attacked by Germany too and following a hard resistance Greece was occupied by Germans completely in June 1941. During the Greek-Italian war (and before as...
  15. WI A Greek Pope in 1455?

Could this pull an early Reformation movement?
  16. WI A Greek Pope in 1455?

Many of the Cardinals (especially the French) resented him for his austerity and passion for reform plus his greek origins. Given the fact that Roman Church has recently emerged from the painful Western Schism how possible is that the election of a controversial Pope who wanted to reform the...
  17. WI A Greek Pope in 1455?

I have posted that before but this post is now lost in the depths of the forum for years so i ll post a new one. In the Papal Conclave of 1455 Cardinal Bessarion emerged as a strong compromise candidate when the voting was deadlocked between the Orsini and Colonna factions who pushed for...
  18. The Royal Counter-Coup of 1967 in Greece

Well originally US was going to back Constantine and his coup which was scheduled for 22 April 1967. But a group of Colonels beat him to it and launched their own coup in 21 April 1967. At the beginning USA refused to back the new regime. US Ambassador in Athens sent a telegram to State...
  19. The Royal Counter-Coup of 1967 in Greece

I d like your opinion in a short narrative i wrote some time ago about the failed royal counter-coup of 13 December 1967. Also i d like you to comment if the counter-coup could be successfull or it was doomed from the very beggining. Plaus what could have happened if the King was successfull...
  20. WI Guy Fawkes was successfull in his plan?

As i said above couldnt the scottish nobles declare Ludovic Stewart King of Scotland thus breaking the union with England if they exploit the disarray in the realm following the explosion?
