  1. Queen Margaret I?

Based on the composition of the executors of Henry's will in 1547 (in terms of numbers, cross section of offices etc.), I've come up with a preliminary list of 16 possible members of a council of regency in 1513. Not completely sure of some of them, but seems feasible. Not sure what part...
  2. In the Land of Milk and Honey

Good stuff - keep it up!
  3. WI: A Pure fascist Germany

I can see Goering as perhaps the leader of a more 'pure' Fascist party.
  4. Queen Margaret I?

Huzzah! Thanks to Wikipedia (don't shout at me!) I've discovered this... In 1513, Catherine was pregnant again. Henry left her as Regent of England, as he left to fight a war in France. Scotland invaded, so she sent an army north to meet the Scots. The Scots failed, and Catherine sent Henry...
  5. Queen Margaret I?

Great post - I like the idea of the three way fight especially. As for what I said, I just meant that de la Pole was head of the House, not that his claim was very good at all (though when did that stop anybody! :D). Another idea I had was for the Spanish to back whoever is fighting the...
  6. Queen Margaret I?

Just one point - Richard de la Pole was recognised as head of the House of York until he died at Pavia in 1525, as his older brother had been designated heir to the throne by Richard III.
  7. A "Napoleanic" Third Reich

Perhaps puppet states can be formed in the Soviet Union to gain the support of minority groups there? With no racial policy, and the support of Ukrainians, Latvians etc the Germans would be much more successful IMO.

That's a good point. It might be that he just carries on his job as a lawyer under the new regime (if there is one :p).
  9. Queen Margaret I?

Another interesting possibility: Margaret dies shortly before Henry in the period October 1514 - January 1515. The new Queen (I think) is Henry's younger sister Mary, who is married to the King of France.
  10. Queen Margaret I?

Things aren't looking good for the sceptered isle!
  11. The Withering Rose

Thanks! I think I'll use that base to show the different stages of the conflict as it unfolds. At the moment I'm busy finding cool-sounding places to use as battle sites.* :D * The Battle of Giddy Green is my favourite so far.

Yeah I know what you mean.I don't think I'd have More actually playing an active part in a rising, more his OTL historiography of Richard III (which wasn't at all complementary) almost accidentally inciting people to rebel. I wonder if Utopia will still be written.
  13. The Withering Rose

PART FIVE As battle raged in the channel, England’s king found himself a virtual prisoner on the continent. Henry VIII’s army had succeeded in making further gains in Northern France – the town of Thérouanne was captured on the 15th September and a siege of St Omer had begun soon...
  14. Queen Margaret I?

If for some reason Henry VIII dies before his daughter Mary is born (lets say a jousting accident or something), his sister Margaret, who was heir presumptive to the throne until 1516, will become Queen. How would that work given that she is married to the King of Scotland?
  15. A Different Shade of Red TL

    Good so far!
  16. The Withering Rose

PART FOUR The morning of 21st September 1513 saw a southeasterly wind, which favoured Sir Edward Howard’s (son of Thomas Howard) English fleet. The fifty ships of the Royal Navy included the Mary Rose, Great Harry, Peter Pomegranate, Barbara, Dragon, Lion, Martinet, John Hopton and Sabyn...
  17. The Withering Rose

More had just started writing a very negative history of Richard III in 1513 OTL, if Richard d l P gains the throne I might have him publish it and then start some sort of anti-Yorkist rebellion. :D Here's a quick map of the battles so far.
  18. The Withering Rose

PART THREE James IV had spent the summer months preparing and equipping his army, and by the first week of September, his 35,000 strong force (including 5,000 French troops) – the largest ever gathered for a Scottish invasion of England – was ready to advance. The order was given to cross the...
  19. The Withering Rose

Nobody seems to know for some reason! I've only found one source that mentions it, and that gives his birth year as 1480 (which makes him 33) so I'll probably just use that - it seems pretty reasonable. Thanks :D
  20. The Withering Rose

Thanks. I'm halfway through writing part three.
