Nobunaga’s Ambition Realized: Dawn of a New Rising Sun

For a Christian it makes sense to join the Church Of Yamato. The COY doesn't carry the same stigma the other Christian denominations do. If I was Christian in Japan at this point I'd join the COY without hesitation, especially after that last stunt carried out by the Calvinists.

What if Mohammad Zahir Shah was restored as King of Afghanistan?

If he is that popular, then he might've been able to keep things together. I think the problem though is that he has to keep it going after the honeymoon period. Afghanistan has a lot of problems afterall and the USA seem more worried about what Pakistan thinks than the Taliban returning.

    Can Switzerland be even bigger?

Liechtenstein seems to be the obvious part to join. The French enclaves don't seem to be a lot if my research is correct, but it is still more and it does give them full control over Lake Geneva. Swiss Voralberg does fascinate me as that is now Austria. Even if the Swiss did say yes, I think...

WI: War of the Sicilian Vespers failed

How much of a French victory are we talking about? French Sicily is the first obvious change we'll see. Considering what happened to French speakers on Siciliy before the war, you might see some revenge by the incoming French. French Balearics are a possibility as Aragon only gained them at the...

    Can Switzerland be even bigger?

My question is exactly what the title says. From what I know and have read, most of Swiss history involves several smaller nations within Switzerland allying with each other because they didn't have much to offer the Holy Roman Emperor and in turn, the Holy Roman Emperor had little desire to...

Nobunaga’s Ambition Realized: Dawn of a New Rising Sun

Not much, the Calvinists have shown that they'll betray their nation for another with the same beliefs and that they can't take on the central government. If the ones left are smart, they'll keep their heads down before the powers that be find another excuse to repress them even more.

Would Asia/the world of the twentieth century have been better off if Japan lost the Russo-Japan War, was stalemated, or deterred from attacking?

Would they though? There is no Japanese occupation so they got nothing to compare Russian occupation with. Korea will also be strategically vital due to the warm water ports so grand efforts will be made to keep it. I can imagine they'd operate a Finnish model to this Korea and start off as...

Would Asia/the world of the twentieth century have been better off if Japan lost the Russo-Japan War, was stalemated, or deterred from attacking?

If the Russians win, then it means that they don't need to learn the same lessons in OTL. What happens after, depends on how much Russia wins. Either way, they get full influence over Korea, whether they annex it or not is a different matter, but I think they will, because Korea has great value...

WI: Elon Musk remains in South Africa

Going to the United States was supposedly his dream ever since he was a kid. His dad tried to dissuade him of this by sending all the staff home and showing him how life in the US would be, but he still went as soon as he knew he had to do his national service. But if he does stay, then there...

What would a Communist Britain name things?

Sounds great. I'll bring my Cavalier Red Spaniel.

What would a Communist Britain name things?

Anything with a monarchy connection would get their name changed too. There is a street near me named 'King Edward Avenue' which wouldn't be allowed to remain. I can imagine that any street with the name of a former monarch would need to change. There is also a lot of places with royal names...

    Underground Invasion

Exactly. Once discovered, it's easy to counter and the people inside won't have a happy end.

    Underground Invasion

I think the problem is that even if a nation can build a tunnel into another nation without getting noticed, it is going to have to be big enough to get an entire army through. Even if North Korea were to build a tunnel into South Korea without getting noticed, the best they're going to achieve...

Nobunaga’s Ambition Realized: Dawn of a New Rising Sun

Distance probably plays a major part for Russia. The distance between Moscow and Chita is 4700KM (2900miles) which most likely means the Russian king won't hear about things until long after they've happened and projecting power out there will be a lot harder than it is for anyone else. This...

Spain without the March 11 2004 attack?

Well from what I can find online, the Spanish presence in Iraq was about 1300 troops which was part of the Brigada Hispanoamericana (Dominica Republic, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua) whom contributed another 1200. Which makes roughly 2500 which is a fair size number. If they stayed, then...

Spain without the March 11 2004 attack?

From what I remember, it is believed that this event led to the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE) winning the election three days later. I think a lot of people blamed the ruling People's Party for this bombing due to their support for the invasion of Iraq. According to Wikipedia, this...

Nobunaga’s Ambition Realized: Dawn of a New Rising Sun

Brighton Pavilion was just one of many. Between Brighton and Worthing, there were at least ten Indian style buildings. None on the scale of Brighton Pavilion, but still pretty significant. Southwick even had it's Hindu style temple at one point which was visited was Indian soldiers during WW1...

WI: The Siamese attacks Japan during the Imjin War

If Siam attacks the mainland then it will be down to Tokugawa Ieyasu to beat them back. Doing so, will only make him more popular. It might make the upcoming civil war even more one sided as many clans might see Tokugawa as the defender of Japan while Hideyoshi was pissing around in Korea.
