List of Alternate Monarchs and Aristocratic Lineage II

Robert Dudley, 1st Duke of Leicester (1532-1588) [1] m. 1561 [2] Elizabeth I, Queen of England (1533-1603)

1) Anne (1563-1617) m. a) Sebastian I, King of Portugal (1554-1578). b) Philip II, King of Spain (1527-1598) [3]
2) Elizabeth (1565-1625) m. James VI of Scotland (1566-1625)
3) Edward VII, King of England (1568-1623) m. Isabella Clara Eugenia (1566-1633) [4]
4) Robert, Duke of York (1570-1620) m. Arabella Stewart (1575-1615)
Great work! Will Bess wear black ala victoria while still maintaining a firm grip in power?

She do not need to necessarily marry a King (still keep in mind who Spain and Portugal had no princess in her age range) but she was likely to marry one (Charles V, Francis III of Brittany and James V of Scotland were all realistic matches for her) but she will marry without doubt a ruler in his own right

Personally, even if I am a supporter of the imperial marriage for Mary ( particularly if she marries Charles V ), I still find the match with James V very interesting, for three reasons : the first is that it distances the Stuarts definitively from the French orbit ( since Paris did not will no longer be able to treat them as simple " vassals ", furthermore the possession of Calais and the acquisition of an additional throne will increase a feeling of political independence and competition between the next Stuart sovereigns and Valois / Bourbon Kings , just see in Otl, where it happened almost the same process ) the second reason is almost a reference to the situation of the Catholic monarchs ( but in a British style ) finally this allows London to have greater weight in the papal curia, given that the future sovereign will have both English and Scottish cardinals ( therefore a number equal to or greater than 5 cardinals ), therefore it would be more capable of asserting itself/listening to itself in Rome, compared to Otl

of course I'm not forgetting that such a marriage can facilitate the political union of the two Kingdoms, in particular given the religious uniformity unlike what happened historically

And who could João III marry ITTL?
what about Isabella of Naples (1500-1550), daughter of Federigo IV and Isabel del Balzo? Or her nieces, Anne and Catherine de Laval (if he wants a French match). Eleonore of Austria (if she marries and is then a childless widow by Louis XII) or Mary Tudor the Elder both seem even further outside shots (given the age gap).
