WI: Rare was close partners with Sega instead of Nintendo in the 90s?

As we all know, Rare was a huge supporter of Nintendo during the days of the SNES and N64, and really only made 2 games for the Sega Genesis(Battletoads and Battletoads/Double Dragon). But, what if Rare was a close partner for Sega instead of Nintendo, and how could this affect both Sega and Nintendo?

Well first and foremost the dkc, banjo and conker series are all butterflied away or at least recycled into a a new game with different characters. Starfox adventures remains as dinosaur planet as it was originally supposed to be.

Sega have to become popular, the reason why rare/ultimate develop for nes was they know how popular would be...in 1985, asking directly to Japan to get the license for Famicom/nes before anyone else

Sega Master System had some edge in the UK, and in some places in Western Europe a bit. There were plenty of platforms over there at that point actually (talking about all kinds of computers here), and NES isn't that massive of a game changer it was over at JP and NA regions. Maybe there's a window of opportunity in this, who knows. If Sega had put effort into this market, more developers could have been enticed to work with their platforms.

Honestly just spitballing. It'd take a different mentality at Sega to be able to do this, methinks.

Rare and Nintendo's first development joint venture was Baloon Fight, a Joust clone, in 1984. Neither Nintendo nor Sega had consoles fore sale in Europe at the time. Butterflying that project in a different direction that leads to partnership with Sega plausibly is going to take a lot of thought.

Or......Sega uses their brains. Donkey Kong's massive revival is made by another studio while the other Rare franchises would be Sega's, and maybe save them.
