The 1896 election was mostly disaffected. With no Republican candidate willing to face President Davis, one had his sights on the Presidency: Henry Cabot Lodge. Lodge would lose the election single-handanly, though.

Although Robert Todd Lincoln was not a great President, he had a lasting legacy due to his father's connections. Lincoln was modest, but truthful during his eight years in the White House. He led a great life later on, and would die in his Chicago home on June 4, 1925.
