  1. Challenge: British Colombia

the British occupied egypt because of fear of losing control of the canal and its spillover effect into India. Britain has no such concerns in Latin America. I do however think something may be possible during the Napoleonic wars. Britan did invade Argentina afterall however my knowledge of...
  2. Challenge: British Colombia

The Americans were unable to enforce the Monroe doctrine and depended on the royal navy to support it. The monroe doctrine was largely symbolic for the first few decades after its declaration.
  3. Challenge: British Colombia

before the monroe doctrine was issued the British had proposed a joint Anglo American doctrine barring european takeover of any land in south america. The British are not going to do what they set out explicitly not to do.
  4. WI: Hitler Pearl Harbours Britain

I didn't mean it as a sneak attack. I was suggesting that instead of engaging in the battle of Britain and wearing down the luftwaffe perhaps an alternate German strategy would be a strike of overwhelming force and magnitude against the major British naval bases thereby incapacitating the royal...
  5. WI: Hitler Pearl Harbours Britain

As far as I know only the HMS Royal Oak was sunk in that attack.
  6. Challenge: British Colombia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Columbia seriously though I don't see how this could happen. It was much cheaper for britain to simply engage in free trade with the new latin american countries
  7. WI: Hitler Pearl Harbours Britain

What if after the battle of france Hitler orders a massive air raid by 2 luftlotte on scapa flow or the base at portsmouth or both?
  8. WI: Hitler captured Stalingrad

case blue was the only major german offensive of 1942 and luftlotte 4 was allocated exclusively to army group south.
  9. WI: Hitler captured Stalingrad

A sustained bombing campaign by luftlotte 4 would have rendered the oilfields useless to the soviets. Basically a german version of op pike. OTL luftlotte 4 actually bombed baku and got pleasing results. This article will interest you: http://www.joelhayward.org/Too-Little-Too-Late.2.pdf
  10. WI: Hitler captured Stalingrad

just like the previous soviet coutnerattacks against AGS they would be defeated and soviet forces in that area would be severely defeated and so not a threat. Properly armed romanian armies could be left to garrison stalingrad along with a few token german divisions.
  11. WI: Hitler captured Stalingrad

then why not just go make case blue an operation to take leningrad and wipe out the soviet baltic fleet. murmansk and archangel aren't that far from leningrad so the arctic lend lease route could be cut off some time later.
  12. WI: Hitler captured Stalingrad

Hitler's biggest mistake in 1942 was his decision to split army group south in 2 and send them simultaneously on different axis of advance. Ideally all of army group south would advance towards stalingrad and capture it. By this time, with winter approaching it would be silly to conduct a new...
  13. WI: Germany stops at the Polish Corridor

this is Hitler we're talking about. Maybe with a revanchist leader but not Hitler.
  14. What was Napoleon's endgame?

First of all do you think Europe would have been better off if Napoleon had claimed the final victory and subjugated all his opponents. The obvious plus is all of Europe getting the Napoleonic code. Secondly what would Napoleon do once he'd claimed the final victory? Would he be content to...
  15. Why did Germany do so well in WW1?

It was able to keep the combined might of France and the British Empire at bay while at the same time destroying Russian forces on a completely different front. It also arguably could have won in 1918 had a more detailed plan been made. It did all this while enduring a British blockade and...
