I second the question about private firearms in the US. I think the 68 GCA was inevitable, but were the restrictions on NFA firearms enacted.

That's a bit of a stretch. It would be odd in the sense that he had actually been there and done that, but lied to puff himself up as a celebrity. A self-promoter and profiteer yes, but not an outright fraud.

Once starvation really begins to set in, I am really unsure how much resistance the Japanese would put up. If civilization is breaking down and you are essentially staring down cannibalism, are you going to continue to fight? Let alone fight in an effective and cohesive manner?

Ah, I have forgotten the massive distance from the American bases on Okinawa, Tinian, Guam, mainland China and such to Japan, as well as that massive merchant marine fleet that Japan had in 1945.
