Jesse James killed in Missouri ACW

WI the James and Younger brothers had been killed in the Missouri Bushwhacker irregular fighting during the CW ? Say if Jesse and Frank had been successfully ambushed and gunned down by Jennison's Jayhawkers of the 5th Kansas Cav or some other abolitionist outfit, and their bodies displayed as had been the case with Quantrill and Bloodu Bill Anderson after these guerilla chieftains had been killed by fed forces OTL ? How much would the wild West have been less wild without the likes of Jesse James had he bought it during the CW ? (this post is based on having watched RIDE WITH THE DEVIL on Sun night)

Instead of the James Gang we would have had the Younger Gang. Not much difference.

Plenty of opportunities back then for the west to be wild. We'd lose a pop culture icon without the James brothers, but still be plenty of bank and train robberies.

Most likely some other outlaw group would take their place in terms of the cultural icon status.

Agreed, criminal gangs are a dime a dozen and always have been. Losing or gaining 1 or 2 more makes little difference.
