The Challenge
Make a full timeline, and a map illustrating that timeline.

The Restrictions
There are no restrictions on when your PoD or map may be set. Fantasy, sci-fi, and future maps are allowed, but blatantly implausible (ASB) maps are not.

Your timeline must be posted on this forum during the entry period in a thread of its own - your map must be posted in this thread with a link to the relevant timeline. Your timeline may be of any length. Your map may illustrate anything in your timeline you wish.

Any number of people may submit a single entry as a group (as per usual, but it may be necessary here).

If you're not sure whether your idea meets the criteria of this challenge, please feel free to PM me at any time.

---

This round has been extended; the entry period for this round shall now end when the voting thread is posted on Sunday the 3rd of August.

---

THIS THREAD IS FOR ENTRIES ONLY.

Any discussion must take place in the main thread. If you post anything other than a map entry (or a description accompanying a map entry) in this thread then you will be asked to delete the post. If you refuse to delete the post, post something that is clearly disruptive or malicious, or post spam then you may be disqualified from entering in this round of MotF and you may be reported to the board's moderators.

Remember to vote on the previous round of MotF!

The Lion's paw stirs the dust,
A simple want becomes a must,
As envy, greed, then power lust,
Stirs within its slumbering heart.

The Cumans ride; the Romans slain,
The city once, then once again,
Saw battle won and lost in vain,
That Hainaut's count might play his part.

So John the Good raised his sword,
So fell Marquess and Latins' Lord,
Plundered gold to pagan horde,
As Romans humbly knelt.

And all the world did not just hear,
Unsheathe knife and shake in fear,
Romania lives, yet sheds a tear,
For the Lion's roar is not just heard, but felt.

For those unwilling to endure cryptic impromptu poetry, this map takes place in a world where Baldwn I, Latin Emperor, survived imprisonment by the Bulgarians after being captured during the Battle of Adrianople. This allows the Bulgarian king Kaloyan to ransom him back to the Latins, and use this money to raise a larger army. After crushing the Thessalonian army and retaking Adrianople, he conquers much of Greece, with Epirus conquering Athens and Archaea. Epirus backstabs their Bulgarian allies hoping to gain more of the former Byzantine Empire for themselves, but are badly beaten and pushed back, forcing them to cede territory in the north and accept the superiority of the Bulgarians. The Empire of Nicaea grinds down the Latin Empire in Asia Minor, and eventually retakes Constaninople itself. Though whilst the Roman Empire has been restored it is a shell of its former self, as Bulgaria has filled the void it left to become the predominant power in the Balkans.

The timeline that this map illustrates - The Lion's Roar - can be found here.
