Of course, soon after the DoI, the British struck back hard. It all depends on what time the map takes place. During that war, a lot changed in the spans of a year, or even the span of a month.
So it should look like this?

I will go ahead and do an AD300 world map, and post it when finished. Q

Thanks.

The reason I ask was because I wanted to see if I could identify tribal areas with modern countries (e.g. the Angli with England) to provide some continuity.

Thande,
You are welcome. I am working on the map, and I am doing it in the same style as all the other OTL world maps posted here. Some of the data is going to be sketchy unfortunately, because of limited data to work with, but I will do my best. Are you asking for tribal names and/or areas to be shown? I will do what I can do and post the map, and anyone here that can add to the map, please feel free to do so, when I get the map out there. Q

No, I have my own source maps for that - just so the 'states' as on the other maps so far, like the Romans, Persians etc. and then I'll do the tribal areas.

Must ask, Thandie - where did you come across that DK atlas of yours? I happened upon a veritable hoard of book tokens, y'see, and I was rather hoping you could point me in the direction of said cartographical compendium, or one like it. (I do apologise for the P-esque style of speech, can't think what's come over me all of a sudden.) Well, cheerio!

Well, I have a number of historical atlases, but the DK one is the one which has world maps from 1400, 1500, etc...

This is the old edition I have, and

This is the new one, which is literally exactly the same except for one new half-page about Osama Bin Laden and the War on Terror (tm).

I've been working on this for a while, and I'm quite pleased with it.

Kudos to Oddball for putting me on to Centennia.

Partly converted to the Universal Colour Scheme,
with some additions for those annoying German and Italian microstates,
I present - Europe BAM, April 1789...

God I hate requesting...

I've been all around the forum looking for a Europe only, 1400 map. Like the eura-atlas maps, but editable. I think I've seen one before, but I'm not sure.

Edit: That on Thande just posted (fantastic, by the way) would be perfect but I have no idea what to do with those fiddily little German states...

Would anyone be willing to make a BAM of EUrope in 1138? There is a reference map on page two of 'The Hauteville Empire'.

Thanks anyways.

Thande,
Here's the AD300 world map. China at this time was in a state of fragmentation, under the influence of the Toba Wei, a Turkic group that ruled much of north China. I didn't have any data concerning the actual break down of China in AD300, so I chose to depict China as a single state rather than draw in arbitrary borders between Chinese states. Better safe than sorry, then looking like a fool. On the other hand I have decided to show the dioceses in the Roman Empire as devised by Diocletian as they appeared at the time of the map. Enjoy. Q
