Different Confederate President

How much different would the ACW be if the Confederacy had not chosen Jefferson Davis as President? Who are likely candidates? Would Davis become Secretary of War or would he demand a field command? Or maybe the VP slot?

How would a different POTCS affect the early years of the war?

Well, Robert Toombs hoped to be President of the CS, but was passed up in favor of Davis. I don't know how much different Tombs would have been in office, but I think he was against secession before he was for it.

Well, IIRC, Toombs also opposed the firing on Fort Sumter. If he takes the Presidency, could that be changed?

This is going to be weird, but i just thought of this last night. What would the South be like if Andrew Johnson somehow became President of the Confederate States?
